I'm at a loss. Baby born last year and I've lost no weight thanks to covid. I've basically been trapped inside with a 3 and 1 yo or toddling at 0.5mph. I'm about to return to work and with spring looming I just can't bear the thought of wearing anything that's not joggers and a jumper. I have a monstrous apron (thanks two c sections) and a terrible habit of snacking when the kids go to bed. I've just about got through the christmas food (EVERYONE brought us chocolate, biscuits etc this year) so I'm determined to not buy any myself and make a new start when I return to work (at home) to exercise where I can and stop the terrible snacking.

Any recipes, or ideas to step away from the packet of biscuits and still feel like I'm living (I'm not going to get excited about celery) please.

Have a freddo bar or a curly wurly every evening as a treat and leave it at that

Cashew nuts are fairly low fat

Eh?! They are almost half fat, by weight.

Lovely1a2b3c · 19/02/2021 00:14

Crunchies from a multipack (the 26g 3/4 size ones) are only 122 calories, Curly Wurlys and Milkybars are also nice and low calorie-wise. I also quite like the Fibre one 90 calorie brownies (although they don't taste like brownies!).

If you're looking for healthier snacks (rather than just relatively low calorie ones) then cooked blackberries and apples taste lovely with a little sugar/syrup; pineapple pieces or any other fruit.

@bigtittymilkymummy. I see you under that bridge..

@Divebar2021 the OP needs to lose weight, and is clearly greed my (as am I, I’m not being mean here, sooner people realise that about themselves the better). Nuts have no part in a weight loss diet for a greedy person, minimum satisfaction for maximum calories. Absolute no no.

Also OP dried apricots - WTF, no just no, they’re just sugar and carbs and again so easy over eat.

God no wonder loads of us are fat and struggle to lose weight with some of the things I’ve seen suggested in this thread.

I agree with the poster who said to brush your teeth after dinner.

Another thing to try is buying a beautiful teapot and some nice expensive teas. That way, having a lovely cup of tea, prepared carefully and presented beautifully can become an indulgence that is closer to zero calories.

The most important thing to do though is to make sure you have a good dinner with plenty of protein so you feel full until bedtime.

And go to bed earlier before craving time hits.

I couldn't eat at 5 and then discipline myself not to snack.
I would skip breakfast, or maybe say have a chopped apple if you want to sit with the children (although breakfast was never as civilised when my DS was little). I would then save that bowl of cereal or slice of toast for around 8pm so I could eat something guilt free. Could that work for you?

BettyDaviesWeLoveU · 19/02/2021 10:16

@Hotcuppatea going to bed early has been one of my secret weapons....I have a cup of tea with almond milk and a chocolate rich tea or Freddo bar (both less than a 100 calories) to beat the sugar craving, then I try go and watch tv in bed whilst I’m still full 😂
