Getting so fed up of neighbours. Anyone else?

NC'd, in case my neighbours happen to spot me on here (unlikely, but you never know!)

I am getting increasingly sick of my neighbours. Probably because I'm (like most of us) home pretty much all the time at the moment.

They have a couple of children who are normally pretty well behaved as far as I'm aware. But they are so so noisy and have a dog too that barks consistently.

They have had visitors over pretty much all the way through each lockdown - before I am accused of being a curtain-twitcher our estate is very built up and it is easy to notice new cars and people about.

But today I am working from home and they are having a children's party on their back garden. Can hear lots of screaming children, there are banners and balloons out. To be fair I cannot hear adults, just a lot of children screaming and shrieking. I do not want to report them as I'm not that kind of neighbour. But I'm just so sick of people like this, bending and breaking rules etc.

I understand their kids are bored but come on - a party!? I'm dumbfounded.

Sorry I don't have an AIBU. Just needed to vent and hope I'm not the only person in the world suffering with intolerable neighbours.

No photo needed @Cosmos45 !

I just do really find it hard to believe to be honest. Your far away from them, inside a house with the tv on and they are still to loud? I think maybe your being a bit of a drama queen. Sorry.

longtompot · 19/02/2021 17:49

Right now, yes. They are out there 'tinkering' away on their car, revving the engine. Does anyone know why people do this, the revving thing?

Cosmos45 · 19/02/2021 18:10

@DanniM1986 right.. so you know absolutely nothing about me, know nothing about the setup here, nothing about my neighbours and can’t believe the situation and call me a drama queen. Do please tell me why I spent £500k on renovating my dream hole to live here forever to be selling due the being a tad dramatic or making it up? Just because you have never been in the situation it doesn’t mean others are making it up.. Hmm or being dramatic.. Confused

Mine aren't too bad, apart from being obsessed with having the space outside their house and the space outside ours too - to the point that she leaps out and moves her car into it as soon as it becomes available.
That's a bit annoying, as they have a drive but don't use it.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/02/2021 18:17

longtompot we used to live near a revver. He had a motorbike and used to go on long rides at the weekend, setting off early in the morning - but not before a good 10 minute rev.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/02/2021 18:18

However, my son has a drum kit, so.....

effieochondriac · 19/02/2021 18:21

But old people are the worst for complaining, aren't they?

Complaints last year from my 82 year old ndn -

teddy bear hanging over fence
cat walking thru garden
sweet lying in garden
son touching leaves of her tree while on trampoline
son opening back door and scaring birds

Dreading this year.

and the bloody lockdown is FOR them (mostly).

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 19/02/2021 18:26

My neighbours have been brilliant over the past year .
No noise, no idea whether they have visitors, super helpful with offers to get shopping when I had covid, baking me sourdough bread & leaving other gifts.
AND no more noisy bottle collections from the pub across the road at 3 am (and I didn't but a flat opposite a noisy pub, they opened after I bought the flat). One local business I really hope won't be reopening.

"Do please tell me why I spent £500k on renovating my dream hole"

A half a mil dream hole Smile

Got a new neighbour in lockdown who is incapable of closing a door, has to slam them. Which makes my dog startle and bark. I am spending hours training the dog not to bark at the noise. Never heard the old neighbours, have been in the house collecting post, reading meters etc when old neighbours moved out. All the doors fit just fine!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 19/02/2021 18:47

Yanbu and apart from the dog, I could have written your post. Lockdown has tipped me over the edge. We're think of moving, but we love our house.

Hoping after lockdown it will get easier.

I feel your pain OP.

Suzi888 · 19/02/2021 18:55

Those kids won’t be kids forever though @Cosmos45 your house sounds lovely, I would be heartbroken to leave it.
I’d love a hot tub, my mum’s neighbour has one I can’t say the sound bothered me.

Anonanon12 · 19/02/2021 19:10

Our neighbour seems to just hang around the front of the house, whenever we open the front door he is there and comes over to say hi, dread going out there now and try to dash out before we are spotted!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/02/2021 21:00

Our neighbours have been fantastic throughout the pandemic. The street has turned into a bit of a community where people look out for each other.

We’re very lucky though as we are EOT, and the side we are connected to is an old lady who is deaf. Makes it less of a worry if my two are a bit noisy! My Dd plays the trombone so it’s a concern...

Daffodil123456 · 19/02/2021 21:50

I am glad it is not just me!!

We got the neighbours from hell, they block our car in on the drive & so do their visitors .
I will add that their car has no tax , mot or insurance on it.
They just throw their rubbish out the front door or over the back fence.
When the bf is around we have to listen to him abusing the woman & the ones that aren’t his.
They stink our house out with drugs as well.
Then there is the loud music & barking dogs.

You report them to the Council or the Police the person on the phone makes out that it’s us who are doing wrong

Daffodil123456 · 19/02/2021 21:51

Also when they close a door you know about it

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 19/02/2021 22:21

NC'd back as I'm pretty sure my neighbours aren't going to conduct a Mumsnet witch hunt on a Friday night!

Can't believe how many people on here suffer with bad neighbours. Can we all just move onto one big street together, where we are cautious and considerate of others? That would be heaven!

longtompot · 19/02/2021 22:41

@EndoplasmicReticulum

longtompot we used to live near a revver. He had a motorbike and used to go on long rides at the weekend, setting off early in the morning - but not before a good 10 minute rev.
This neighbour used to use this car for getting to work. He'd also leave in the very early hours and the car would be left idling for at least 10 mins every morning. I was so thankful when he got a new car.
