I did post in DIY but didn't get any responses - so apologies.

My ensuite is in desperate need of decorating.

I can't afford to change the actual suite but I'd like to paint the tiles. The shower also has tiles.

Is it possible to paint shower tiles as I'm reading conflicting advise on DIY sites. Also do tiles paint "well" generally?

It is a high moisture room so there is mould on the ceiling and paint has peeled off. What would be the best paint/emulsion to use?

Again, on googling there are bathroom paints, anti mould etc... l don't know what is best!

Would be grateful for advice

When had mine done they treated the ceiling then put this board on top so the ceilings flat. No more chipped paint. It's probably a mess under that board but it looks nice. I've seen some nice bathroom transformations where they painted tiles. I painted my kitchen tiles and just used wilco tile paint years ago and it's been fine, never chipped and I clean them regularly, though I know it's different to a bathroom. Sorry I have no clue really about DIY.

Hmm you can paint them but I'd be worried about longevity and certainly wouldn't trust a tile paint without using a separate primer and a sealer. The time we did it it peeled off like PVA glue and was a nightmare. Literally had to peel it off bit by bit because it couldn't be cleaned without coming away from the tiles. It was awful and took days.

If I was doing it again I'd prime, paint, not use the room for days (it wont cure if there is moisture from the shower) and then seal, but still wouldn't be optimistic in a high traffic or high moisture room. It's only something I did because we plan to redo the bathroom in a couple of years and wanted to tide over covering the old tiles, which were very dated.

Re: the ceiling you need to address the cause and get better ventilation, either upgrade the ventilator or buy a decent electric dehumidifier and use daily in the room. They really are a worthwhile investment. The larger units will cater to the whole house. Plus if you dry washing inside it speeds it up no end and is cheap to run.

Decoratively, Sand it down and prime with an anti damp primer or ensure you use an anti mould or bathroom specific emulsion for the job.

You could look into shower panels to go over the tiles or adhesive vinyl, but I'd not expect the latter to last indefinitely either.

Tile paint is readily available - I have used in past and it works OK - BUT it's never going to look like different tiles - it will always look as if you painted the tiles.

Yes you can paint tiles. But tile stickers are very effective. They aren't expensive and you should also use a waterproof primer under your wall paint to stop the mould / water issues and then use a special bathroom paint.

I painted my bathroom tiles. They looked great. For about 3 months... then they looked absolutely terrible, chipped and peeling, especially in the shower area. I had my bathroom redone and got showerboard instead.
