To think sleeping in the living room would be fine?

Live in a 2 bed flat, both bedrooms are double but not huge, eldest DS (7) has autism and adhd and really needs his own bedroom, he doesn't tend to sleep much and he also encourages his little brother to do stupid things and it's a bit chaotic at times, he sleeps in my bed at the moment because he kept getting the younger one up at night and it was just dangerous as the little one is only preschool aged. Even if he stops that, younger DS will need a full single bed soon and in either room fitting two single beds would leave hardly any space for playing/toys/stuff
Bunk beds out of the question because it would be too dangerous.
So sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room and giving the boys a bedroom each seems the most logical idea?
I'm a single parent so it's just me and I really dont use my room for anything other than sleeping atm anyway so seems a waste.
Storage wise I have enough space for storage elsewhere in the flat where I could keep clothes and bits.
Has anyone done this? Was it ok or did it drive you mad? Is it really annoying having to pull the bed out every night?

Not OK - an adult really should have an adult bedroom if at all possible - separate from children - suppose you had a partner or just wanted a one night stand - you need a better solution

@Bertiebiscuit I'm sure OP knows this.
Perhaps you could magic her up an extra bedroom.

Have a look for a day bed- you could even get one with a trundle in case one of the kids need to sleep with you. Can get them fairly cheap on FB marketplace or for about £80 brand new. They can be used as a sofa in the day with duvet and pillows still on so no need for extra faff.

We’ve got this as a (every single night...) spare bed in the living room - it’s great if you’ve got enough space.

Know lots of families that do this as its expensive to rent bigger properties..
Others use freestanding room dividers like the ikea kallax so combine storage as well.. not sure that will work for your2 at the moment but maybe when their older.
Definitely best daybed/sofa bed you can afford... eBay is good for 2nd hand and you could just get new mattress..
One tip is to also get your self a nice set of bedding and a small chest if drawers/bedside table and lamp so it feels like going to bed rather than crashing out in the sofa!

We've done this and it's actually a really good set up. Ikea sofa bed but we bought a proper mattress for it and through the day it goes behind the other sofa. We have dark walls so I use a dark sheet on the mattress to blend it in.

I set up a reception type thing in the hallway too where I do my make up or read, just so I'm not always stuck in one room, but it all depends on size.

If you'd like to see some pictures feel free to message me.

Sofa beds have come a long way, if you can afford a good one. They make a sitting room look more finished, IMO. And the good ones are very comfortable indeed.

But a day bed with storage below or a trundle bed, so your boys can have sleep overs in a few years, are also good options.
