To ask wtf they’ve done to fairy liquid

Original fairy liquid - green bottle, now comes with “improved scent” and within a few days of using it my hands are wrecked!! Cracked, bleeding, drier than a dry thing in dry-land. This is the only thing that has changed. Why do these companies fuck with things that were perfectly useful in the first instance??? Raging.

Gosh that sounds really bad if your hands are bleeding. I think use gloves and speak to your doctor.

AuntieStella · 14/02/2021 21:35

That's a pity - I really like the traditional smell. Reminds me of girlhood home.

No reason to buy Fairy if it's gone.

PercyPug · 14/02/2021 21:41

Same here and I use Ecover sensitive!

doodlejump1980 · 14/02/2021 21:44

@Laiste weirdly I’m allergic to the powder stuff they put in marigolds. And it’s Highland water, the softest water in the land. So can’t even blame hard water.
Never hand an issue not wearing gloves before, haven’t changed anything else. Has to be the fairy! Grrrr

I don’t use rubber gloves they freak me out for some reason, my hands have been fine with our bottle of fairy though

Backtobacktheyfacedeachother · 14/02/2021 21:47

Every time I use it I keep meaning to email them and tell them their ‘improved scent’ means I won’t buy it again. It smells awful!

Carex, on the other hand, has had my fingers split and bleeding but I switched to Aldi and it cleared up within a few days.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 14/02/2021 21:47

I can't even pick up a sponge or dishcloth without gloves on. I'm funny like that. But even if I just need to do a quick one minute wipe of the kitchen table I need to get those marigolds on. I take a pair on holiday with me!

bluebellscorner · 14/02/2021 21:52

I use gloves so I don't know about the formula being more harsh but the new and 'improved' scent STINKS. It is revolting, smells like cough syrup. Yuck.

If anyone can recommend another brand please let me know.

bluebellscorner · 14/02/2021 21:54

And it is more runny. Why mess with something that worked perfectly? Agree with pp who said it used to remind them of their girlhood home. I felt the same

Staffy1 · 14/02/2021 22:03

Are you sure it's not just because it's freezing weather? My hands get terribly dry in colder weather.

Couchbettato · 14/02/2021 22:07

Could it not just be that your hands are getting drier and cracked with all the hand gel we're using, and dish soap - which strips oils off things - is making it sting?

saffire · 14/02/2021 22:08

I noticed that it's not as bubbly and it's runnier too. Having to use double the amount to get a lather.

ReggieKrait · 14/02/2021 22:13

People, use rubber gloves every single time you wash up or clean!

Take it from someone with disgusting painful cracking hand eczema only a twice daily slathering of steroid ointment can control. Surfactants and cleaning products are terrible for your skin.

doodlejump1980 · 14/02/2021 22:14

But the only thing that’s changed in the last fortnight is the fairy. I’ve been using hand gel etc fine for months, and I try my best to avoid the cold, so gloves when I’m outside. Has to be the fairy.

The gloves make me itch more than the WUL does Hmm

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 22:15

You need some good old Marigolds!

ReggieKrait · 14/02/2021 22:18

Have you tried latex free or lined gloves scully? Might help.

passtheorange · 14/02/2021 22:20

I found out years ago that Fairy irritated my skin so I've not used it for a long time.

We use Morrisons lemon scented and I haven't noticed any changes with that one so far.

justasking111 · 14/02/2021 22:21

In the past I used to buy it in 5 litre containers, hotel suppliers. It might be worth investigating, they do not bother with fancy scents, just thick gloopy bog standard washing up liquid.

NiceGerbil · 14/02/2021 22:21

Why on earth would they fuck with something as iconic as fairy liquid?

My guess is that one of the ingredients has got expensive/ hard to get and whatever they've replaced it with mings a bit.

No I haven't. But then I was always getting water in the gloves Blush so instead of just my hands being itchy from the washing up liquid I'd end up with my arms itchy too where the water was held against my skin by the gloves...if that makes any sense...

I'm.a lost cause Confused

Mind you, I thought the same when they ditched their iconic, instantly recognisable bottle. They had a standout product that now looks like all its competitors Confused
Slub · 14/02/2021 22:34

You need a dishwasher

Ironmanrocks · 14/02/2021 22:35

To be fair though, I noticed they did this to their laundry liquid a year or so ago. It now smells sweet and cloying. Ive had to stop buying it, it's horrible. I too like green fairy (old style) but at present have the blue anti bac one. It' OK - I don't mind it. I do like method sprays though...rhubarb is my new fave!

TinyCake · 14/02/2021 22:40

Mild green fairly liquiiiid
