To ask for help getting RTÈ in England?

I would be very grateful for any help with this - have posted in Craicnet but also AIBU for more traffic. My mother is currently in a hospice in England. I would like her to be able to listen to RTÈ (see my user name which refers to her love of The Lovely Joe Smile)

My (admittedly old school) first idea of just tuning in a LW radio to 252 doesn't work there. They have a wifi we can connect to but my mind seems so blank at the moment. Ideally I would like an old fashioned radio as it would be less confusing to my mother and obviously myself but it doesn't seem possible to get RTÈ on DAB radio?

Is the best idea to get a smart speaker like Alexa, connect to hospice wifi and set it up, download the Irish radio app and ask it to play RTÈ? The nurses would have to ask it to play and ask it to stop for her, which I know would confuse my mum a bit but I can't see another way.

I could get an iPhone and install the app and leave it there if the nurses could turn it off and on but this seems like making more work for them (and I would have to get the phone).

Is there an easy way of sorting this which I am missing? Any help would be very gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

If she likes Joe she might also enjoy Pat Kenny, He's on Newstalk from 9-12 daily. It's also possible to listen to the show on the newstalk website/Ap afterwards.

Thank you all so much! I have purchased a Bush internet radio AND WE COULD LISTEN TO RTÈ! I cannot wait to put it on for my mum later.

Thanks

Ah, that's great - and hope it cheers up your mum.

Well (and this is the way our luck is running atm) of course it worked fine at home but didn't work at the hospice. Of course. No problem getting onto the wifi etc just the signal strength wasn't good enough for a connection.

One of the very nice therapists said he would look into trying to sort something out for us (eg boost signal) so I'm hoping we can resolve it some way. Thank you for ideas though, we will keep trying.

Just an update (as I hate OPs who ask for help and never come back )

My mother has RTÈ! I actually ended up buying a new iPhone as that was the only thing that could get a signal/connection where she is in the hospice. The app is on there and the nurses have even written in her notes so when they do the first round they turn it on for her (if I start talking about how fabulous the staff are, I'll start crying, so I won't - suffice to say they are amazing.

Thank you all for your help. On top of the nurses being so lovely, the thought of Mners taking the time to suggest help for my mum has warmed my heart.
