Not telling the whole truth on CV

Twinklextwinkle · 14/02/2021 17:19

I went to uni A ( Russell Group) for three years but got pregnant with my daughter half way through, failed my final year and ended up graduating with a BSc, which is called an Ordinary Degree and not BSc (Hons). My degree certificate states BSc, no classification.

I then went to uni B (ex polly) for one year to re-take my final year and graduated with a 2.1.

AIBU for only wanting to put one of them on my CV? And which one do I put?

Option 1) I put:
University A, BSc, 2015-2018. I won’t include the classification and I will explain if asked during the interview.

Option 2) I put:
University B, BSc (Hons) 2.1, 2020 (graduation year)

Please help. Thank you.

Option 2

It's perfectly truthful.

WolfHunter · 14/02/2021 17:25

Yeah I'd go option 2 too. My most recent job asked for copies of my degree certificates.

Someone may see option one as not being honest.

ilovesooty · 14/02/2021 17:25

However you will have to account for gaps so you will probably have to disclose that you were studying earlier.

Option 2.

Option 2.

Have they asked for the dates of your education? Could always leave it off and say details available upon request. Some places remove it now so interviewer's can't guess the candidate's age and discriminate.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 14/02/2021 17:34

I don't put any dates on my CV, I'm afraid ageism is a very real thing.

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 14/02/2021 17:36

Perfectly reasonable you got your degree at poly and the date as this is when you graduated

purplebagladylovesgin · 14/02/2021 17:40

Option 1 & 2. You did it, despite the circumstances and should be proud! Tell them this. It demonstrates strength of character that you persevered.

Royalbloo · 14/02/2021 17:47

2! And no other info imo

MasterBeth · 14/02/2021 17:55

Fuck me, it’s probably not been a polytechnic for 30 years. Let it go! Ex-poly, indeed.

Twinklextwinkle · 14/02/2021 18:26

Thanks everyone. I’m surprised that nobody voted for option 2. That was my hubby’s choice as he thinks they won’t event interview my without a RG uni on my CV (the potential jobs are in finance).

They didn’t ask for dates per se, however, I thought that was the done thing. (I’m not originally from the UK but that’s what Google suggests)

Put both on. Just be honest. It’s easier for everyone at the end of the day. They won’t have to second guess you and you won’t have to hide anything.
