To not want DD to be the only girl?

DD is 6, has an ehcp and we are moving her to a specialist. Very real prospect she could be placed in a school of 48 boys and 2 girls. I'm really upset and against this idea. She is very much a little girl who would want girls to play with. I'm trying to argue it out with the LA that having a suitable peer group absolutely is a need whether it makes placing her more difficult or not.

Yanbu that would be awful for anyone let alone an autistic six year old 😭

@Mumofsend - best of luck. Ultimately they have to go with your choice so go with your gut. Best of luck x

It’s exhausting fighting for our kids. My son is early 20’s with severe autism and severe learning disabilities. We’ve battled many times over placement, content in EHCP and fought the LA when they wanted to cease the plan. Everything seems to be a fight!

What do you mean by ‘technically full’? Is there a place free for her there or not?

Mumofsend · 13/02/2021 23:05

@Pinkmarsh thank you. I'm already so exhausted with it all and she is only 6. The fight is incomprehensible when you don't live it ☹

@Cloudsurfing they have 10 spaces in the unit and currently 10 children but with specialist it isn't quite as clear cut as that.
