For booking a holiday for December?

Hi everyone,

Thinking of booking Centre Parcs for their Winter Wonderland breaks for this December for me, DH and DD who will be 13 months. What does everyone think?
Surely things can't be bad still in December? Do you think it won't be worth the money for a lesser experience, shall I wait for Xmas 2022?

What are people doing in regards to booking UK holidays this year?

YABU - hold off, don't risk spending £££

YANBU - December is 10 months away and the majority of the population should be vaccinated by then.

As long as you are happy to take on board any associated risk of not getting refunded in full or it not happening then of course you can go ahead and book and I do hope that you are able to go and enjoy it. So I voted YANBU but I will vote YABU if you are back in December if we are still locked down and you want to complain other than feeling disappointed.

I think there is no harm in booking it if thats where you want to go (although I'm not sure it's totally value for money at your daughters age ) providing you can afford to loose your deposit if they can't refund it or don't mind a lesser experience if aspects of the holiday are closed.

No one can determine what our lives will look like in December, while we all want a more relaxed social life if it's safe to do so, that doesn't mean it will be, so if you book, be prepared for it not to go ahead.

Unless we have a successful booster campaign for all variants then winter could be bad again. I’d wait and go when the little one is older for centre parks as the fun is in the activities.

Aprilx · 12/02/2021 17:54

I would be happy to book so long as it is fully refundable, not sure Centre Parcs is though.

Centre parcs have a brilliant covid policy for re booking and cancelling. At the minute you don't have to pay till 3 1/2 weeks before you go (other than your deposit) and you can cancel at anytime if you just don't want to go because of the risks of covid.
We changed a booking from June to end of November which was then shut so we cancelled and got the deposit back within a week and then we have a booking for end of March which we have decided now to move to a later date.
So I'd say book, it'll be nice to have something to look forward too and you won't be at risk of losing your money

I’d go for it, we were due to go to Center parcs during the first lockdown and were given the option to change dates or have a refund and it’s almost certain we won’t be going on our rebooked dates and we have the same options again.

I've got 4 UK holidays booked in March, May, September and December. I know March won't go ahead but it's refundable so I'm not worried. I'm hopeful about the others though

I’ve booked a long weekend in the UK for August through Booking.com - Nothing to pay until a couple of weeks before and no cost to cancel up until them. I figured I had nothing to lose by booking it, something to hopefully look forward to but no harm done if it ends up cancelled. If things do improve over the next few months, places might fully book up/increase in price

Beaniecats · 12/02/2021 18:38

I've booked a week in August depends on police state uk if can actually go I guess

Newbiemum20 · 12/02/2021 18:44

Thanks guys. Probably will just go for it. Just need something to look forward to! I know DD is too young to enjoy the activities but the price isn't too bad mid-week outside of school holidays and I just would love a cosy lodge experience enjoying the Xmas lights, snuggling up in front of the log burner and doing the soft play and swimming with the little one. As TBF just regular self catering cottages are coming in the same price without that resort type feel and stuff onsite.

Go for it, it’s lovely to have something to look forward to! No-one can say what life will be like in December so you might as well book and then see nearer the time what’s allowed.

peak2021 · 12/02/2021 18:55

I would not book it unless you can get a full refund or transferred to a later date at no extra cost.
