To want to buy a mattress without trying it?

So I’m in pain. A lot of it, my back kills me every morning after 3-4 hours of broken sleep on a lumpy cheap 5 year old mattress. I need a new mattress, we were going to buy one then covid hit and it all went pear shaped now we are ready to buy again and obviously shops aren’t even open let alone to allow us to lay on a mattress, but I have no idea when we will be allowed to try mattresses again, I can’t deal with this any longer! I thought my husband was okay with buying online so I did a tonne of research and thought okay I’ve found a new bed and a selection of new mattresses asked my husband for his opinion and he lets loose the ‘we can’t buy a mattress without trying it first’ but he could fall asleep on cobbles I swear so to him it’s not a problem to stick with the one we have until we are allowed to try some. Am I being unreasonable to want to stick to my guns?

I've got no idea if I'm going to like the new one.
But at least our room won't stink.

Can't recommend Tempur enough. We have the Cloud Luxe mattress and it's like sleeping on clouds, literally. It's the comfiest mattress I've ever had and I'll actually be bereft when it runs it's course Sad I've never ever had such a good nights sleep! I have the tempur pillow and between the two of them I never want to get out of bed Grin

We bought online without trying and couldn't be happier. Here's the one we got:

We bought one during the first lockdown from John Ryan By Design. Highly recommend them. You can pick one based on what you think will suit you and then they contact you to talk through your choice to check weight/softness etc.
It is the comfiest mattress I've ever had and we will be replacing all of our family's mattresses with them eventually!

@GeorgiaGirl52 so the mattress we have is only designed to be slept on one side, and we’ve tried turning it a few times!
@AdditionalCharacter interesting, that’s the lumpy cheap one we are trying to get rid of! It was fine for the first 6 months, really comfy, then it all went down hill! Never again will I buy a cheap mattress!
No way! I'm really surprised. Ours has been so comfortable, had it a couple of years, all the DC have them as do some family members who I've recommended. Blush

We absolutely love our premier inn mattress, still going strong after 6 years and my shift work as well as being quite lazy means I spend a lot of time in it. We’ll be buying another in a few years.

Worth bearing in mind that if you buy one of the mattresses that you can try for 100 nights or whatever, if you send it back from what I understand it goes straight into landfill which isn't ideal.

Tricky predicament, I'd try and hang on until you can get to a shop to try some.

We had the same problem, blind buying during lockdown. Take a look at John Ryan by Design. They have a trial period, but also you give your weights and issues and budget and they advise which mattress. They're pocket sprung. Got ours in the first lockdown and its the most comfortable we've ever had

We’re on our second Tempur mattress- I absolutely love them. However they don’t last the 10 years they’re supposed to...
