Booking a staycation in UK

I know we can't book anything right now, we usually have a holiday abroad with the kids in Spain or Portugal, we actually have our summer holiday booked for the end of April to Spain (was booked for May last year but obviously cancelled so we postponed to this year)

Doesn't look likely at all that it will go ahead. We all desperately need a holiday - as I'm sure everyone does! I'm starting to think once restrictions are lifted it will be much easier to go on holiday in this country.

So I'm not really asking AIBU (or maybe you think I am for thinking about booking at all?!) and more that I need some recommendations on where we can go? We've never had a holiday in this country to be honest so I'm clueless!

We want something that allows pets and a hot tub would be ideal! I'm thinking a lodge or cottage or maybe even glamping?!

Any suggestions of where is nice and child/pet friendly?

Booking a staycation for this year is a good idea, its not looking great at the moment for international travel and a lot of places are going to get booked up.
While looking at hotels for my own staycation, I noticed a few are doing 'bed and bureau' - where they throw in the option to have a monitor and printer so you can go off to work from the hotel instead of work from home! Enterprising!

I've gone for shorter breaks spread over the year so if the weather is awful it hasn't ruined my only holiday. I've also gritted my teeth and paid an enormous amount for much better accommodation than usual.
Can I recommend Filey in Yorkshire. I went there last year (instead of Greece). Lots of decent self catering apartments on the sea front, miles of beach and good surfing.

Some great suggestions I have so much research to do!

@peak2021 kids ages range from 3-15 and no special needs, really as long as there's lots to do outdoors they are generally easily pleased.

I'm now starting to wonder if our holiday abroad might not even get cancelled after seeing the positive press the last couple of days!

Starting to like the idea of a different type of holiday now though Grin
