To worry about getting food poisoning from this?

I defrosted my freezer last night and for some reason decided to put the drawers in the bath so I could spray hot water on them to melt the ice
There were bits of bread crumbs stuck in the plastic front of the drawers from fish fingers/chicken nuggets etc
I sprayed it all and washed with washing up liquid
Cleaned the bath with anti bac
Sprayed disinfectant cover the bath, taps, bought a.new shower head and hose because I accidentally dropped it into the freezer drawer
Mopped up all the ice from the kitchen and sprayed switch disinfectant
I can't stop thinking I'm going to poison my DC with bacteria from the food? I feel like it's.soread through the whole house now because I took the drawers from the kitchen to the bathroom and some could have melted onto the carpet
I sat in my bed too with the clothes that had got splashed water on them so could I have spread bacteria to the bed as well?
I sprayed so much disinfectant aerosol spray that I'm worried that's going to poison my kids too if they touch the surfaces then their mouths? It's similar to the Dettol stuff but fabulous brand is that possible to get poisoned from once it's dry?
I have OCD but this is one of those times where.i can't work out if it's a legitimate concern or I'm just being OTT by worrying so much I'd be really grateful to get others opinions on what would he a normal rational precaution to take defrosting a freezer?

Using the bath for that is pretty grim

No, it isn't - perfectly sensible to use an easily-cleaned, self-contained area. How is it any different from using a sink, other than being larger?

This is your OCD. All your worries are massively out of scale.

You will not poison anyone. You didn't need to buy a new shower head.

Can you talk to your doctor about this?

ApolloandDaphne · 10/02/2021 12:47

I say this kind but your response to the perfectly normal act of washing some freezer trays is way out of kilter. No-one is going to get food poisoning. You most definitely need to access some help with this.

Don't worry OP. There is no risk here. Try to let it go and in a few days, you will see that you are less worried about it. It does sound like you are in the grip of your OCD at the moment and it would be good to speak to a doctor. It's hard to get a sense of perspective when you are very anxious. I have a family member with OCD and I understand how your thoughts can be really hard to manage. Try to imagine what you think a friend of neighbour would do if you have doubts about whether or not something is dangerous. And sometimes it's best to let time pass till till the threat has reduced in your mind. You should try to get help as things really can improve - I know this from my own involvement with a family member.

Thankyou everyone it's really helpful to hear other people wouldn't be worried! Helps out things into perspective.
I think it's a case of too much time on my hands- single parent and lockdown so very easy for thoughts to run away with themself, I've just had to stop myself going on AO and ordering a new fridge freezer because this one feels contaminated, my shopping came today and I've had to argue with myself not to throw away the brand new freezer food because I've put in the "germy' freezer. I do know getting an entirely new fridge freezer is ridiculous and luckily I'm skint or I probably would have ordered one just to shut my brain up tonight.

Are you getting help for the OCD though? This must be so exhausting for you. Your GP should be able to help or you can likely self refer to an IAPT service.

converseandjeans · 10/02/2021 22:42

Honestly you will be fine. It sounds like a sensible way to clean everything off.

You would only really get food poisoning from something like chicken that had been left out too long.
