So long story short I've got thrush! Went to trsco during the weekly shop. Saw a canestan label and bought it.

Upon getting it home it turns out I bought the cream for athletes foot!! I somehow looked past the little foot symbol on it. So in a phone call to my mum I was laughing about how silly I had been.

She then tells me I can use it anyway. The ingredients are the same... this led me to having a nosy online and finding that the cream for athletes foot is half the price per 100ml than the cream for thrush despite being the same cream.

AIBU to think it'd taking the piss out of women? Considering thrush it mainly a women's problem.

All this talk of thrush reminds me of when I used to work in a pharmacy and a Foreign exchange student came in to talk . She had to Google what she needed on her phone and it converted it into English as "mushroom vagina"

If you have just a mild case you can use the foot cream. Maybe they should market it as "hoof and foof".

I always buy the cheaper one. It’s always worked so far.

I also get intertrigo, the fungal rash under breast, and usually get Caneston hydrocortisone to deal with it, but last time I had it, I couldn’t be arsed to go to chemist so just used athletes foot cream and some normal hydrocortisone mixed together and it worked a treat. In fact it worked a lot quicker.

So maybe it could be Hoof, Foof and Boob?

I see the point regarding 2% vs 1% but just annoying when I search for thrush treatment it doesn't bring up the 1% 'hoof and foof' and just shows the expensive stuff. It doesn't show the generic anti fungal either and when I've been to my pharmacist for previous bouts it has never been mentioned that their is a cheaper alternative it is generally do I want canestan cream, pessary or tablets.

Anyway it seems to be working a treat so will stick with it I think, not paying any pink tax to calm the foof!
