Pessary pls help

Posting for traffic, is it normal for a pessary to make the area sting sharply or not? I have never used one before so no point of reference.

Leaflet says stinging is a side effect and to “contact GP if this makes you uncomfortable” which seems a bit ambiguous. Am I supposed to ride it out or not?

Is it for thrush?

CokeAndPepsi · 09/02/2021 23:38

I’m no doctor but I imagine this would depend on the type of pessary and the condition you are attempting to treat. I would start by googling it with that information.

NiceGerbil · 10/02/2021 00:01

What is it for?

What's the name of the medicine on the packet?

Raindough · 10/02/2021 00:03

it’s thisBlush

Annoyingly there isn’t much info online as it’s a new product. I just bought it from Superdrug, unsure if I actually have the condition or not but my symptoms are similar!

Op the canestan site has more info

'Canesbalance may cause some stinging. This is only temporary and should ease over time. If you are concerned seek medical advice.

But I say ouch you poor thing :(

Coffeeandaride · 10/02/2021 00:20

Those ones do sting a bit OP. Canesten much less so in my experience.

Coffeeandaride · 10/02/2021 00:22

It’s the same ingredients as in balance activ pessaries (just a new brand) in case that helps your research!

PinkArt · 10/02/2021 00:37

Not sure if it's normal, but I ended up holding an ice pack to my bits after using a pessary. They felt like they were on fire. Solidarity!

NiceGerbil · 10/02/2021 00:44

That would be what the male driven medical profession/ pharmaceutical companies see as 'a bit of stinging' :/

They are never honest. If it burns like your whole reproductive system is on fire, don't worry...

Thank you very much for the late night support and solidarityGrinBlush

Managed to get through it - it gradually stops hurting after an hour or so. You’re right @NiceGerbil. Males would never introduce a medicine to the market that would hurt their manhood in similar manner!

Hankunamatata · 10/02/2021 18:50

if its Active Balance - it shouldn't sting

Coffeeandaride · 10/02/2021 19:52

@Hankunamatata

if its Active Balance - it shouldn't sting
It shouldn't but it does sometimes.
NiceGerbil · 11/02/2021 02:41

Glad you're feeling better OP!

If it doesn't sort it you should probably have a chat to your doc :)
