To think he’s being selfish

Kids sent home from nursery today. Positive case in their bubble so they have to self isolate. DH and I both working from home.

I pick them up and say I’ll look after them for the rest of the day as he has a lot on at work and he says he can’t help today. This means I will need to do my work after the kids have gone to bed.

At 4 he came down and said he was going for a run. I said, hang on, I wanted to go for a run today but haven’t been able to as I’ve been looking after the kids so you can work. He said he needs to run everyday, I said I would look after the kids, and its up to him how he spends his time.

I feel this is unfair and he’s being selfish. He gets to do his work and go for a run. I’m left doing my work in the evening and no run. AIBU?

Unbelievably selfish.
Is this a one-off or is he always a dick?

clpsmum · 09/02/2021 18:18

Why can't you go for a run when he gets back?

clpsmum · 09/02/2021 18:19

Posted too soon! If you can't then do the same tomorrow. I'm sick of hearing of men in this day and age expecting to do everything they want and the women to do all the childcare. Hope
You're not doing all the cooking and housework too. If you are tell him to keep running and not look back!

I'm a runner, so although he is obviously a bit U as he used false pretences, but I'm saying it depends on;

How fast a runner he is.

Is he talented? Is he fast? Does he win or place in races? If so, I'd allow him slightly more leeway than the average person.

If however he is Mr Plodder, then that doesnt work.

No it doesn’t depend on that Hmm and why do you ask about his running prowess and not OP’s who also wanted to go on a run?

Thanks all. I honestly thought I was going mad because it seemed so obvious to me. I’m going to make absolutely clear what is acceptable over the next few days.
