Mattress only 3 months old!

Hi,

So I am in a rented place came furnished, with as least spent on things as possible! Which is pretty standard from experience.
The bed is a cheap divan, and the mattress wasn't looking good when I first took the place, so I asked agent to replace it, he agreed and said they have a budget and just supply coil spring type, I wanted to crawl away as they are awful, anyway we agreed and to get a firm one and that was that. Now within those few months, the mattress has dipped on one side, I have seen this happen before. I have back problems as it is, and this is making it worse! I need to get something else and had pocket sprung in the past which is better and advised as a good choice.
I don't know what the agent will say, but I also think he should know as the mattress should not go so early on!
I can't have a replacement of the same thing, so would therefore I assume have to pay for it myself. It is difficult as well that even before Covid there are so few stores that you can go in to and try beds out.
I think it's having firm which I was told to get going by body weight, but comfortable but also supportive, my mums spare bed was a little too firm but holds you up you not sink at all!

The idea foam mattress is surprisingly good, it often comes out comparable with the Eva etc in '10 best..." guides. If finances allow I would be tempted to buy my own and ask the agent to take back and store the one they bought. You can take your one with you if/when you move.

Hi,

Is it pocket sprung though? You say foam? I shall have to take a look.

No it's foam, but i find foam ones very supportive for my bad back. Appreciate not everyone is the same though! Good luck!

Our multiple pocket sprung Sealy mattress cost over 1K - it has been utter rubbish (Google Sealy Monte Carlo if curious -we are not alone) and we've recently obtained a Dormeo memory foam one to replace it.

You can order online and get them delivered with a 60 day "test" period to return and get a refund if they don't suit you. Quite a few manufacturers offer this "bed in a box" trial service now so there's no need to go bed shops.

Sounds good! Yes I can understand that with the Sealy one. The main thing with pocket sprung types, is to get a mattress with at least 1000 count, and other than that I think it is all personal preference and luck! They go on about a £100 something mattress not going to be good, but it all depends on what it's made of and brand etc.

I had from mattresses online previously and it was good.

We have the ikea mattress a pp mentioned and it’s the most comfortable bed I’ve ever had. Supportive but not in an austere way- we’ve had it 3.5 years and it still looks like new, so much so when we upgrade to a king size next month my mum is taking it for her spare room.

I think it was less than £100 for a double as well
