I just want to buy some sensible, comfy everyday pants. No impressing of anyone required. Just comfort. Ideally without a ridiculous VPL because even though there is a 2m rule and in theory, no one should be close enough to notice, I don't want to feel even more self-conscious going for a run than I already do.

M&S used to be my go-to for sensible knickers, but I've given up on them. The sensible-looking ones manage to be simultaneously baggy and dig in. I'm not even sure how that's possible.

Recommendations for online shopping, please? I'm not trying to impress anyone, so I feel like some new underwear with decent elastic shouldn't bankrupt me. Ideally something with enough fabric so a sanitary towel has something to stick to.

(I don't want to have special period pants, I just want some good quality everyday pants! Maybe I'm asking too much...?)

@MarleyTheDog

These are brilliant to wear under leggings OP. Really comfy and no VPL. I wouldn’t think they would be much good for wearing a towel though. I haven’t periods for years, since I had a hysterectomy. Maybe you’ll just have to wear ordinary, cheap knickers for period times?

I agree about M&S. I’ve given up on them too 😒

Do you know where these specific ones are from? I like how long the legs are
DahliaMacNamara · 09/02/2021 19:17

Agree with Morrisons for good, stretchy, plain pants with a decent width of crotch.

RandomMess · 09/02/2021 19:20

I'm waiting for @MarleyTheDog to come back - where are those shorts from!

laudete · 09/02/2021 19:22

Next. Can't recall the style off the top of my head (I check my order history before I buy new ones) but they fit and are comfy.

LApprentiSorcier · 09/02/2021 19:26

Tesco/Asda. Always comfortable, cheap, last a reasonable time & they have a wide range of styles.

Sorry. I thought the website name would have shown. Yes, I like the length of leg too. They are from Bon Prix. Super fast delivery too 😊

freezingmytoesoff · 09/02/2021 19:27

Tezenis seamless cotton!
So comfy and reasonably priced for seamless cotton underwear

C152 · 09/02/2021 19:50

Sloggis - uk.sloggi.com/

Decent fabric, decent elastic, comfortable and last for years.

Dixiechickonhols · 09/02/2021 20:19

Sloggi next and amazon sell them

2021hastobebetter · 09/02/2021 20:22

I’ve had this problem. Primary was dire and m and s more expensive but not comforts. I buy the High leg ones from Sainsbury’s now better quality than Tesco and comfort is wonderful.

Elletine · 09/02/2021 20:28

Victoria’s Secret! Their no show/ no VPL ones are amazing and last really well and don’t lose their elasticity. Evangelical about them and never get pants anywhere else.

unvillage · 09/02/2021 21:06

Used to be solely the one particular cut of Primark pants but then even before lockdown the larger sizes became impossible to find - now a devotee to M&S midi cuts. Had a clearout the other day and ruthlessly binned all my ancient ones - v satisfying.

Used to be m and s then switch to Next multipack. They are super comfy and have branding on the elastic waistband.i go for the boxer style. More like bigger knix than traditional boxers and true to size.

QueenOfLabradors · 09/02/2021 21:24

Primark hipsters with the lacy waistband. They've lasted for ages, I had in my mind that I would need to go knicker shopping when Lockdown One ended, but in fact I did a knicker audit one particularly boring weekend and discovered that actually I had twelve pairs in immaculate condition, fifteen in 'will last a bit longer yet' condition, and four in the 'will do in emergency' condition. And that's not including the huge numbers of odd pairs of fancy knickers that came attached to various bras! Or the pack of Trouser Knickers that I'd picked up by accident in Primark, which are the same shape as the hipsters but have an irritating string of elastic threaded through the waistband.

greeneyedlulu · 09/02/2021 21:47

Asda, short knickers. Comfy and no vpl

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 09/02/2021 22:12

I too found that M&S knickers were baggy, but the elastic at the top was very narrow and dug in, although the waist wasn’t tight. I got some from Next, which are bigger, although they’re the same size as the M&S ones.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. In fact at VS underwear I've ever had has been brilliant. They often have offers on.

Asda, short knickers. Comfy and no vpl
THANK YOU. Smile I took you up on your recommendation!

My bottom is now comfy and covered. The old M&S knickers are going in the bin.

I had a look at Next, but I didn't fancy paying for delivery.

Asda, they're a firm favourite of mine for underwear. I've bought more expensive but when the underwires come out on 2nd/3rd wear I always end up back at Asda, their sizing is pretty good, usually pretty comfy in the knickers and bras

Also probably the cheapest I've bought aside from primark

DreamingInColours · 15/02/2021 15:27

Primark. They have a huge selection and are --good value cheap as chips

DigitalGhost · 15/02/2021 15:31

Asda short knickers. Best hands down

CuntasarusRex · 15/02/2021 15:34

I love matalan for the massive comfy knickers

MirandaMarple · 15/02/2021 15:38

Sainsbury's. Such good quality.

roses2 · 07/02/2022 09:20

I need some new underwear and saw a lot of good reviews on Sainsburys. I can't seem to see matching sets though?

Any recommendations for good quality places to buy matching sets? I have a phobia about wearing odd underwear!
