What does a 12-18 month wardrobe look like, I think I have too many clothes for the little one... help me feel normal 😂

We don’t go out haha so DD has 6 pairs of leggings, 20 babygrows, 6 pairs of pjs, 2 sweaters and 3 long sleeve T-shirt’s. 1 dress at the moment too sent by my mum!

I only know this because I just took out all the clothes that are too small! We’ve been okay for the last 2 weeks so I guess this okay!

ZackaryQuack · 09/02/2021 01:10

DS has more than me and dh combined. I have a lot of hand me downs as I have cousins that have sons 3 years to 4 months older, so I got given bags of stuff regularly.
In reality he wears the same 5 pairs of trousers, 5 tops, 3 jumpers 15 body suits, 10 baby grows and 10 pj's sets over a week lol

cerealgamechanger · 09/02/2021 01:11

Not as many as mine has. I live shopping for the children and can really get carried away.

WellPlayed · 09/02/2021 05:24

Mine doesn't wear baby grows any more. He has about 10 long sleeve vests, 5 short sleeve, 2 joggies, 4 dungarees, 3 hoodies, 3 jumpers and 2 knitted cardi's. Oh and a couple of hands full of socks. I don't ever run out but I do washing almost every day.

shouldistop · 09/02/2021 06:08

Do they go to nursery? If so, how many days?

Lemonlemon88 · 09/02/2021 06:16

My two go to nursery so we have about 8 pairs of leggings/trousers, 8 tops, 3 jumpers, coat and underthings each for that plus pyjamas and probably 5 full outfits and a coat not for nursery. I don't do washing everyday and we can go through a few outfits at nursery!

MsSquiz · 09/02/2021 06:32

My DD is 13 months and has (in size 12-18 months):

15 baby grows (5 short sleeves, 5 thick strap vests, 5 thin strap vests)
10 leggings
15 long sleeve t shirts
4 sweaters
2 pairs of joggers
5 dresses
1 pair of dungarees
1 hoodie
10 pairs of pyjamas
2 swimsuits

I have recently bought 3 t shirts and 4 shorts in sales too for when the weather gets warmer
I love shopping for her clothes and easily get her new bits each week

Lifeinaonesie · 09/02/2021 06:35

My 18 month old just wears second hand, mostly given by two different friends and his sister's old stuff. As a result he has about 30 pairs of every item! I love it because it's all second or third hand I never care if it gets ruined or I shrink it in the wash.

randomsabreuse · 09/02/2021 06:39

Depends how quickly you can dry stuff and how often you do wash loads. 1 year olds are messy eaters and often sit down in muddy puddles (intentionally or unintentionally)... We could get through 3 sets of clothes in a day plus pyjamas so would need at least 9 full changes to be safe...

Caspianberg · 09/02/2021 06:43

9 month old here

I find that 6 of each item is generally fine. Have more vests as he wears them daytime and nighttime. Atm mainly long sleeve vests as winter.

Nighttime he wears sleepsuit and vest, daytime usually leggings/ dungarees with vest and cardigan.

SmashedPumpkin321 · 09/02/2021 06:55

I've gone with @Caspianberg's method for my 12 month old DD. I've just done a full re-stock and got 6 outfits for each kind of weather. I bought:

6 summer dresses
6 pairs of leggings
6 short-sleeved t-shirts
3 long-sleeved t-shirts
3 pairs dungarees and about 16 long sleeved bodysuits to mix & match underneath
6 short sleeved bodysuits
6 sleepsuits
Plus a coat and a neutral cardigan that should go with everything

I wash whatever is in her laundry basket twice a week, but do washing of some sort every other day. If she needs an outfit change during the day I just chuck it straight in the machine so it goes with the next wash, even if that's towels or whatever.

I have to be honest, until now she's lived in nothing but sleepsuits! So easy and we've barely left the house. But I thought now she's 1 I should probably start getting her dressed Grin

strawberriesontheNeva · 09/02/2021 07:02

It depends on how frequently you are prepared to wash their clothes and if you have a dryer or not.

Camomila · 09/02/2021 07:07

I haven't counted them but they all fit into one drawer (squeezed tight!) of an ikea malm unit.

Laundry takes ages to dry in our flat so I like to have spares.

KaMai · 09/02/2021 11:08

When my son was in 18-24 month clothes we could get through 2 or three tops and trousers a day with messy meal times, crafts, muddy walks etc, I'd have been washing every day if we only had 3-6 of everything!
I'm very lucky that 90%+ of his clothes as free hand me downs. We usually have at least 10 short and 10 long sleeve of each vests and t shirts. About 20 trousers of varying thickness, severalnpairs of dungarees, maybe 15 jumpers/hoodies/cardigans, about 10 pairs PJs in a mix of summer short sleeve and thick or fleece for winter. 20-30 pairs socks, 4 coats of different warmth, 4 or 5 hats, scarves and pairs gloves.
That's a whole 6-12 months wardrobe changing season though!
This way there's always choice in the draw and I only wash his clothes once twice a week! (We have cloth nappies with 4 washes a week so limited washing and drying time for clothes)

Wow that's a lot! Do you find you use that much or not? x
