Hi all
I have this on my breast for months sorry for pic not really sore or anything. Just showed hubby and he says I need to get it checked.
Not keen on visiting GP about something so personal should I go?

Yes that needs to be seen

nocoolnamesleft · 08/02/2021 21:31

Get it checked.

LesCuriousCat · 08/02/2021 21:32

Absolutely.

IwillrunIwillfly · 08/02/2021 21:33

Yes, I'd say that was worth getting checked.

marcella1 · 08/02/2021 21:34

I'm a little scared to be honest

adventurealice · 08/02/2021 21:34

This is exactly the sort of personal thing your GP is for and used to dealing with. I would be terrified it’s something not good but the quicker you know the safer you’ll be and the sooner you’ll be happy again x

Wishitsnows · 08/02/2021 21:35

Yes go, that's what GPS are for. Although I get that you don't want to, I would avoid too

TaraR2020 · 08/02/2021 21:36

Of course you're scared, but part of that is because you'll need to face the unknown. It may all be fine op, but you'll regret not going if it isn't.

Make the apt, its like ripping off a plaster. And good luck, let us know how you get on Flowers

Beforethetakingoftoastandtea · 08/02/2021 21:36

This is exactly what the gp is for. Phone first thing in the morning.

Vallmo47 · 08/02/2021 21:36

Just send the picture to them during a phone consultation, they can determine whether it needs to be seen in real life or not. Good luck :)

SerenityFlowers · 08/02/2021 21:38

Please make the appointment tomorrow. GPs look at things like this all the time. It is just a body part to them. It's ok to be upset and feel embarrassed but you need to phone them up. If your GP has any concerns, no matter how slight, they will just refer you straight away to a specialist breast clinic and you'll be seen by kind, lovely people within 2 weeks. Often those people will then give the all clear and in the less likely event that it's a problem, they will take very good care of you xx

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 08/02/2021 21:40

You will probably find that your GP will do a telephone assessment and possibly look at the photo so, while they may need you to go in to the surgery, they may not if they are happy they know what it is and how to treat it from their assessment

Riv · 08/02/2021 21:41

If it’s been there for as long as you say and hasn’t healed, yes, you definitely need to get it checked.
You can ask for a woman doctor if that makes you more comfortable. In any case, your GP will be used to seeing personal parts of people’s bodies, it’s part of their job and training- they will treat your privacy with respect and you won’t need to show more than you have to.

Mollymalone123 · 08/02/2021 21:43

Yes to see Gp and like others have said I’m sure gp will probably want to see u in person- please don’t be scared ( easy to say I know) but it could be something that you get sorted there and then .

CaptainSirTomMooreismyhero · 08/02/2021 21:44

You definitely need to see your GP. It is understandable that you are scared but, even it is is something untoward, you can't turn the clock back. Burying your head in the sand won't help. You just need to find out what it is and get it treated.
Good luck.

pumpkinbump · 08/02/2021 21:44

Definitely speak to the doctor tomorrow. They will probably ask for a photo first.

I am the same. I put off things for months because I'm terrified of it being bad. It more than likely isn't, but if it is the quicker you deal with it the better. You'll feel better once you have called tomorrow knowing you're being proactive rather than the anxiety it will be causing you.

marcella1 · 08/02/2021 22:02

Thanks everyone
The texture around it is weird- all dry

Yes , phone your GP in the morning . All persistent or unexplained skin lesions on the breasts and nipples should be seen and checked .
Your GP will probably take bloods for a full screen and she may refer you to the Rapid Access Breast Clinic (I was referred and seen within eight days); appointments there can take a few hours because they are very thorough so set aside the whole morning or afternoon and take a good book . Have someone lovely drive you there and home .
Clinic staff will answer all your questions on the day and if any treatment is required you will be assigned a specialist nurse who will guide you .
All the best to you , let us know how you get on x

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 08/02/2021 22:16

marcella1 · 09/02/2021 10:18

Hardchoices · 09/02/2021 10:50

Worried about it being personal? Have you had smear tests? If not you really need to prioritise your health.

marcella1 · 09/02/2021 11:23

Update
Being prescribed antibiotic cream for two weeks if it doesn't clear up then breast clinic at hospital

Imkindreally · 09/02/2021 11:27

I’m really glad you’re being seen and posted this. I had the same about 3 months ago and didn’t get it checked as assumed was eczema Blush it’s left a dark mark / hyperpigmentation that I’ve ignored but based on comments above will get checked Smile

DinosaurDigestive · 09/02/2021 11:28

I'm so, so glad that you have been in contact with GP. I was literally just about to comment to ask you to do so when I saw your update.

I know it's uncomfortable when it comes to personal areas but honestly medical staff see them nonstop. I know that doesn't make it any easier but they don't think anything of it - honestly.

I've been for some very random things over the years and felt exactly like that before but now I'm just like, "Here it is!"

Wishing you all the best my lovely. I had a very strange area that looked similar to yours but it eventually cleared. I hope the cream helps as quickly as possible Flowers Cake

marcella1 · 09/02/2021 12:28

I really appreciate all the advice I don't think I'd have done this if wasn't for you all xx
