To call the GP about this?

In the last five years I seem to have developed an allergy to kiwi and it has got progressively worse. I'm fine handling them, or at least I was, so I still bought them and cut them up for DC, but having done that today I am now having the strongest reaction so far despite the fact I am fairly certain I haven't ingested any. Unless one of the DC contaminated something I went on to eat, I am now wheezing and coughing and feeling shite just due to touching the damn things.

Bearing this in mind do I need to call the GP, as DP suggests? It feels a little overdramatic, but I have to admit to being rather freaked out. Esp as DP doesn't live here so I'm alone with the DC and no other adult who'd know if I had a stronger reaction.
YABU - don't make a fuss and call the GP, just stop buying food you're fucking allergic to you dozy mare
YANBU - call the GP, see about allergy testing at some point in case it's wise to get an auto injector. And stop buying food you're fucking allergic to you dozy mare.

Have a look at this article, OP.

You should ask your doctor about the Covid vaccination, too, when you are called for an appointment. If you have an anaphylactic response to anything you shouldn't have the Pfizer vaccine, at least (not sure about the others.)

I had a relative who developed a sudden severe reaction to kiwis.

Kiwi is something I'm allergic to too. I used to have them in the house for others to prepare but I kissed DH an hour after he'd eaten one and a blister came up on my lips. They are now banned from the house.

The shakiness could be due to the antihistamine.

I have to add when I had it it seemed to move around my body, as one part seemed to ease another part flared up. I have had no bother with avocados although that’s interesting to know. I have had a very slight reaction to hazelnuts so avoid those. I still had the Pfizer though . It seems to be allergic reactions to medicine that is the problem there.
My dgd has these tendencies too unfortunately, last time she was given steroids after the antihistamine wasn’t strong enough.

Steroids now taken. DP insisted on coming over to stay because he's worried about me.

How’s it now @Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep ?

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 09/02/2021 13:54

Thanks for asking. I'm absolutely knackered - slept 9 hours, dozed for an hour, had a nap after taking eldest to school (SEN) did a bit of my studying, now lying down again. Have had a bit of breathlessness as well, but otherwise fine. Just a bit shocked and trying not to 'what if'.

Thank you so much for the support everyone. Hard to believe this was AIBU! Tbh I still feel like I made a bit of a fuss over nothing, even whilst logically realising I probably didn't, since the GP was about 5 minutes away from sending me to A&E! Grin
