AIBU to think:

  1. The disrespect Serena is because she is a black woman
  2. In her early years in professional tennis, she called out racism - a sin no black person is ever forgiven for

Of course, in her early years, she was not always the most pleasant, but so is Federer

I think she's an incredible sportswoman. She's been a beacon for women's tennis and is great to watch. I also like the way they bring up their daughter, having watched the documentary about their family.

But I also agree with the other posters who find her a bit stroppy and arrogant on occasions. As are other players such as Djovikic. Perhaps it's a necessary trait for succeeding at the highest level?

Venus seems to have a slighter softer and more fun side, but her achievements are also eclipsed by her sister's. Serena has certainly had a stellar career.

I also like her way more than Sharapova whom I find very irritating.

I dare say that she has faced more than her fair share of racism, and I admire her achievements. However, I didn't think very highly of her showing off her new home this week at a time when many are unwell, unemployed or face an uncertain future.

I do agree though that men get away with more. It's ok for them to flaunt their wealth, power, girlfriends and to be aggressive.

I watched he play at Wimbledon when I was around 15/16, I've been amazed by her ever since.

She is absolutely phenomenal, has achieved so much professionally and as an example for women and people of colour. She doesn't apologise for who she is, which is fine.

She's also undoubtedly had to deal with a huge amount of misogyny and racism and I think an allowance should be made for that in judging her behaviour and our view of her character.

However, no allowance can be made for off court trials and tribulations when dealing with on court behaviour and discipline and her behaviour against Osaka at the US Open final was awful. It's true that male players pull the same shit more often (Kygrios is a sexist shit and I won't watch him) but if you want to pursue a profession you follow the professional rules.
