Got loads of nice stuff some barely worn. I've never been on ebay. Is it worth bothering?

I use market place, its local and you don't need to try and get to a post office to send. Before Christmas I sold all our old Christmas clothing and made over £40 and was selling at £3 a jumper. Bundles work well but I would never buy or sell on ebay now, the costs and hassle are just not worth it!

I've often bought clothes from eBay for £0.99 and some items a couple of quid brand new with tags

I sell my baby clothes / various items on Depop. People are willing to pay a bit more, it isn't an auction so you set a price and just wait (lower if no one is interested). You also are more likely to sell bundles as you can offer people to combine postage, so they easily look through your shop abs see what else you're selling.

I had a massive eBay clear out and made about £300 but it I know I'd have made more. Depop still charge fees but takes the 10% straight away rather than wait a month for an invoice from eBay. Hope that helps in some way x

Imo the trick is to use the settings and the block list to weed out as many of the troublemakers as you can. You can block people who havent unpaid item cases recorded against them, or a lot of negative feedback.
When you start a new account its like turning up to a car boot sale - you'll get people in your face demanding the stuff for nothing. Just block them, they aren't worth the aggro.

Make sure everything is clean and mended, photograph it clearly, describe it accurately and use tracked post.
If postage seems too high on a single item then make up some bundles.

Please do. I get all my kids stuff from eBay Smile but have noticed fewer listings recently. I agree that people are using FB marketplace more but don’t like to buy from FB as I find sellers to be more unreliable than on eBay.

I sell On Facebook marketplace Iv made £750 in the last few years! (That does include 2 Sofas lol)

You can make a fair amount from decent brands like Frugi, Boden, Joules, scandi companies like Duns and some Next and H&M things too. I wouldn’t bother selling supermarket or primark stuff, it doesn’t really sell.

I’ve managed to get more than I paid for with some Boden girls dresses which is crazy.

My kids are selling their old stuff at the minute and getting great money. Ds is into designer clothing and most sells well. He has had great money almost the same as new) for well worn and outgrown Yeezy’s and expensive football boots. I can’t bear the hassle myself, but he is happy to do the legwork. I drop him at the P/O to post and he can transfer the money from PayPal to his own account.

Hi OP, we've been selling kids clothes on ebay for a couple of years. We used to give them all to charity shops or friends but then DH was made redundant and he dropped salary when he got a new job, so we thought we'd try and recoup some of the money we spend (I've always bought our DD's lots of clothes Blush)
We don't do auctions, just buy it now. We're very careful about what we list - everything is in excellent condition. We always get really good feedback.
Certain brands sell really well. The best are Ted Baker and Boden for us. Next, M&S don't sell very well, but weirdly we've found that George at Adsa does!
We price things realistically and although things can sit there for months (we have the listings set so that they just renew when the time is up) most things do sell eventually. Every so often we take non-sellers off and give them to charity shops.
It is time consuming, DH does all the listing (I usually tell him what to write) and most of the packing and posting, but we've got it down to a fine art now.
Oh, and we've sold loads of kids shoes (about 40 pairs!) Anything Clark's sells really well.
It has definitely been worth it for us, but after some PP comments I might have a look at Vinted...

I have been selling on and off for a couple of years. I have had a couple of bad experiences and I have found that eBay don't provide much support for sellers. It puts me off for a while. I've started to give stuff to charity now especially small items as its just not worth the drama. I haven't used any other selling sites
