Ok kids have been up because of halloween,no they have not been trick or treating , just to friends for a party . they are in bed but still not asleep , just when I think all is quiet some bright spark in the neighbourhood starts to let fireworks off in garden.

Now it is nearly 9pm on a school night , and I am a bit naffed off about it.

Dont mind fireworks but not starting NOW at this time of night !

AND IT IS VERY LOUD BANGS !! AND YOUNGEST KEEPS WAKING UP !

IF IT IS YOU THEN BLOODY STOP IT NOW !

Well I think 9pm on a week night , when children need to be in bed asleep for school next day is an unaccepatbel time to let off LOUND BNAGS from your back garden.

On a friday or Saturday I could just about cope with .

But most people don't have to worry about children going to sleep for school!

You're not unreasonable to be angry, but unreasonable to expect other people to curtail their social lives because of you this early in the evening.

Sorry!

coolkat · 31/10/2007 21:28

I think 9pm on a school / work night is totally unacceptable, my DD hates them and I would be mighty annoyed. YANBU. In fact come 9pm I don't want to hear fire works.

Roarindrunk · 31/10/2007 21:30

So how would people feel if their neighbours started to play very loud music at 9pm at night when kids are getting off to sleep ?

Do we put up with it so we dont curtail THEIR social lives ?

9pm on a weeknight not in holiday time is just plain inconsiderate.

When he was working full time and getting up early DH often needed to go to bed at 9. Its not just kids who need sleep to function the next day.

9pm is late except on a Fri or Sat.
I am both a parent and a sad old fart

olala · 31/10/2007 21:33

the only revenge you can have is to let off fireworks at around 5.30am when kids are starting to surface and the late night fioreworkers are all sleeping off their hangovers! You don't have to curtail YOUR social life for them.

Or is that actually really really unreasonable?!

It works both ways.

Why can't everyone just be a bit more bloody considerate of each other? I don't understand - what is the pleasure in pissing off all of your neighbours?!

screamsprout · 31/10/2007 21:35

Am with olala!! My neighbour upstairs reserves the right to wake us up, as late as she likes but 5.30am is apparently too early for any noise.

pooka · 31/10/2007 21:39

You are most definitely not being unreasonable.
Cannot stand random fireworks for no bloody reason and at all hours. Yes, would expect and be fine with fireworks this weekend AND on Nov. 5th (and diwali and Eid and so on).
But hallowe'en completely unrelated to fireworks IMO and my cats are gibbering wrecks. DS poorly with fever and cough and dd always wakes up when she hears them and she is knackered.

Tis pure selfishness. Too bloody right should be getting up at 5.30am and letting bangers off outside their windows.

Roarindrunk · 31/10/2007 21:42

My cats also turn into jibbering farts and end up hiding in back of wardrobe !

Am pleased to say that fireworks have now stopped and children are asleep !

I think letting off fireworks from the backgarden of your terraced house, as if you didn't have any neighbours, is not only inconsiderate, but utterly pathetic.
