Sorry I know not an AIBU but I’ve posted in cars and got no response. We need a bigger car, 2 primary DC and about to get a dog so need a big boot ideally that I can get a guard to have half for the dog and half bootspace. I’m not sure if I’ve over researched because I’m more confused than ever. It’s for family use so day trips, holidays as well as me driving short journeys around town and for my work (community nurse).

Looking at Skoda karoq, Ford Kuga, Seat Ateca or Honda CRV. Aiming for 3 years old with not too many miles (less than 25k). Any recommendations, I’ve always had Fords so feel comfortable with them but a few of the others get better reviews. Want to spend 10-13k

Also would you avoid diesel?

The HRV is a great height for access so CRV is probably fine for your gran. Anything higher and you have to climb into them. They are the perfect height to access car seats.

I've just swapped my Mini Cooper S for a VW T Roc. It's amazing to have so much space, 4 adults sit comfortably and the boot is huge as we've got 2 large spaniels.

They're quite new though so not sure about 2nd hand values. We went for a 1.5 petrol that's 150 bhp. We took a Volvo XC60 out and loathed it, too plasticky and wallowy in comparison. The VW Tiguan was a bit too lofty for me too.

In recent years my DH had a Volvo XC60 which was really big and spacious and we had 2 massive dogs
Prior to that we a VW Tiguan and the boot space was even bigger
I have the new BMW X2 now and while it’s a lot smaller boot wise I love it

We have had a Volvo XC90 when the DC were small and loved it, however we replaced it with a Hyundai Santa Fe and to be completely honest, I prefer it. Lovely to drive, quiet, economical (given its size). Huge inside, good visibility, it's a great tow car too.
