Universal credit - I need help with a question

Is there anyone in the know here? If I’m claiming UC and a family member is helping out financially with money towards things for your child by transferring money into your account each month, does this count towards income? Thanks

Please no judgement. Struggling at the moment and UC doesn’t help towards our mortgage, as they only provide housing benefit for renters.

No it doesn't count. Our daughter gets uc and we transfer her some money every month to help pay for her rent. It's not a huge sum, but is the difference between a 2 bed flat and a 2 bed house with a garden.

I am told yes, and it would be seen as the same kind of payment as child maintenance. Could your family member perhaps give you 'things' rather than money? Perhaps buy some groceries for you or put petrol in your car? You should really ask the Universal Credit people yourself. The number is 0800 328 5644.

No not at all, your wages paid in from your employer are what they see, not your bank account, not what's paid in by anyone else

Child maintenance doesn’t affect your universal credit payments.

No of course not,its fine op only working and other benefits effect it each month .

You're wrong about this money and child maintenance. My daughter receives few hundred a month in CM and UC is unaffected.
