Normally I try to let politics pass me by and not to sweat the small stuff. But this? It's annoyed me, I didn't get anywhere near this and it affected when I had to go back to work after my DS. Just get a bit fed up with it at times I guess,

Being kind I suppose it could be looking after your own and the OP thinks that’s what the government is doing.

Clutching at straws.

All MPs can take as long as they want for maternity in full pay.

poshme · 05/02/2021 08:15

@Meme69 actually they don't get maternity like everyone else as they're not 'employed'. They're office holders so employment laws don't apply in the same way.
They just take time off (as long as they like) and still get paid full pay.

Meme69 · 05/02/2021 08:40

@poshme so they get 6 months fully paid "leave" still sounds better than what most of us get, no matter what label you put on it

poshme · 05/02/2021 08:43

Oh it's absolutely better than everyone else.
They can take as long as they like.

I'm just frustrated by the people saying that the AG is the first MP to get paid leave. She isn't-she's just the first minister to get paid for the minister bit rather than resigning.

Aprilx · 05/02/2021 08:48

It definitely isn’t nepotism and as the alternative was being forced to resign for having a baby, then it sounds like it is long overdue legislation.
