To think that some pregnancy weight gain is from eating to prevent nausea?

I'm 7w 3 days pregnant and have been horribly nauseous for about two weeks now, I keep eating carbs and cheese etc to keep the nausea at bay. I've gained 2.5kg already!! It seems that pregnancy weight gain might be partly because of this horrible nausea problem...AIBU? any tips to stop gaining so quickly? I'm scared I'm going to go into the second trimester having already gained 10kg...

Yep.

I had hyper emesis in all of my pregnancies. Even with medication I was constantly nauseous and vomited at least once a day,

The only time I felt normal was when I ate, so I ate, and gained a good 4-5 stone with each pregnancy.

It all came off eventually though.

Two of my pregnancies were like this, I gained loads. Two I had full blown hyperemesis and lost weight.
Pregnancies vary, but yes this can happen!

Don't worry about weight. Forget it for a few months. Enjoy the food and do what you need to do

YANBU, my nausea in pregnancy was awful and only staved off by eating before I was sick.

Please don’t worry about weight gain in pregnancy- you lose it all afterwards, and your baby needs you to eat well to be healthy. Just eat whatever you feel like and make sure there’s vitamins and fruit and veg.

It was certainly true for me. More so in the first few weeks so the gain wasnt as bad after that. Once we were on holiday and eating a lot but I was swimming every day and didnt gain so exercise still helps. I think getting plenty of sleep can help with the nausea as well

YANBU. I started off eating lots of fruit but by week 10 I couldn't face anything but carbs. That carried on into my 2nd trimester. Its calmed down a bit now but 35 weeks in and some days all I can face for lunch is a sandwich - and for someone that gave up eating bread 10 years ago, its a very strange phenomenon Smile

I'll worry about it all once the baby is here (I tell myself now)

I didn’t experience guns in my first pregnancy, could only eat crackers and drink tea through the nausea. Didn’t gain much weight and bounced back quickly after.

Baby number 2 was a whole other story. Felt sick 24hrs a day (but was never sick) and the only way I could get through it was eating carbs! Two breakfasts most days. I struggled to loose the weight after and am still working on it!

A work colleague was exactly the same. Cheese paninis were the only thing that stopped her feeling sick. She gained a lot of weight but what can you do? That nauseous feeling is the worst.

I lived on a diet of 10 Cheerios, a pregnacare and half a bag of salt and vinegar crisps a day. Couldn’t keep anything else down. I lost 9lb in the first trimester and was so worried.

For me it was white bread, crisps, biscuits and bacon. About as bad a diet as it gets. Had the most awful mum guilt.
