We were given notice on Christmas Eve to leave our rental property.
We’ve been looking every day on Zoopla, rightmove, primelocation and on the market and registered with local agents. NOTHING is coming up which I understand is probably due to the pandemic.
I’m starting to panic! Any other sites I’m missing? Or ways I could find somewhere?

Have you looked on openrent? Try not to panic. If you haven't found anywhere they can't force you out on the last day. They would have to apply to the court and that takes months.
I'm not advocating shafting your landlord. It just means you won't be on the street with your belongings.

Have you tried local Facebook groups, that sort of thing? I often see people advertising properties for rent on the one local to me, including during Covid.

It may also be worth he king if any AirBnb properties are looking for long term rentals, rather than leaving them empty for months longer.

Hello. Sorry this has happened to you.
Have you been served a section 21 notice?
You can call Shelter & they can check it's valid.
Landlord needs to have put your deposit in a deposit holding acc & you need an up to date gas safety certificate or it's not valid.
They need to give you 6 months notice as well (Covid rules) so you have til around the end of June?

houseyhousey · 01/02/2021 23:21

as @spiderplantwoman says, a Covid amendment has extended the s21 notice period to 6 months. It also can't be served in the first 4 months of a tenancy so worse case you have until June which is plenty of time if you explore all avenues. I'd suggest local town/village Facebook groups, letting agents, private letting websites, air bnb etc

Speak to shelter and get info on your rights.

Flowers for you, very stressful

There are often whole properties on spareroom too.
I don't know where you are but we have plenty where I am. If anything bit more because some student houses stayed empty because many students expected online only so didn't sign contracts

What area are you in and what are your requirements? Have you tried discussing these with estate agents? Unless you have really specific requirements there must be something suitable...

Another vote for open rent here, we live in an area with very few rented properties and struggled to find anything on zoopla or right move after our last landlord sold up after ten years. We didn’t want to move the kids school so it was really stressful. We found where we are now through open rent with a private landlord rather than an agency. Way cheaper as well as no ridiculous checks or deposits compared to an agency and no issues in the three years we have been here. Good luck. It’s a horrible thing to happen but hopefully you will find somewhere even nicer than where you are.
