Aibu to risk taking a job at the minute?

I've just been offered a job
It's a admin roll but it means I would have to go into the office for 5 weeks training (with 10 others in 1 room ) then it's a working from home roll for the foreseeable.
Am I being stupid risking it with covid?

You might also want to work on your spelling and grammar first...

ScrapThatThen · 01/02/2021 19:13

I think getting a job is important too. Loads of us have to still do face to face work. Not stupid. Good luck.

Hmm

Its your choice but no, work is important too

Hankunamatata · 01/02/2021 19:15

If you dont have a job then would be unwise to turn it down

needsaid · 01/02/2021 19:16

I wrote that out ridiculously fast.
*role (auto correct )

Presumably you applied for the job because you need a job. Keeping a roof over your head is hardly stupid.

🤣 I mean you have a point but perhaps it should be thought rather than acted upon
Theunamedcat · 01/02/2021 19:17

Can you go in for the training?

MsVestibule · 01/02/2021 19:18

@ElectraBlue

What exactly did you gain from being unnecessarily bitchy like that? Did it make you feel good about yourself?

MsVestibule · 01/02/2021 19:21

I've been working in an NHS office job that can't be done from home since March. Most offices are 'COVID safe' and while of course it's not risk free, I would definitely rather be out working. Go for it!

TierFourTears · 01/02/2021 19:22

Do you need the job?
I took one in the autumn, and yes, its a covid risk, especially compared to staying at home.
But it also means I'm back in the workforce after 5 years out. If I already had a job paying a similar amount, I might have been less keen to move.

Do you want / need a job? If you weren't sure you wanted this job , why did you bother applying for it?

If you do want / need it, then just go for it. Wear a mask and wash your hands while you're training. The likelihood of catching COVID in an adult classroom environment is tiny.

U OK hun?
Singinghollybob · 01/02/2021 19:27

Depends how much you need the money you'd be earning? Also how long can you afford to be out of work? We don't really know how long all this will be going on for still?

PatsyKen · 01/02/2021 19:35

I started a new job in January which can’t be done from home and it has done wonders for my happiness and well being. It makes such a difference having a reason to leave the house. Go for it.

hobbyiscodefordogging · 01/02/2021 19:40

Having a job is important, and presumably you thought so too to apply for one. What would you do for money if you didn't take the job? I think it's sensible, not stupid, to get a job.
