To go out for a long time when exercising?

I know we are only meant to go out once a day for exercise. But AIBU to go out for a long time when I do? I got it into my head it's an hour, but it's not is it? Would happily walk 20 mins, play park for 90 mins, jog/walk for my exercise (toddler napping Im buggy) for 60 mins, then walk home 20 mins. Would this be allowed? Or is it either a walk for my exercise OR play park for toddlers? Thanks

If you’re in England then there is no time limit on exercise. So enjoy!

it really isn't.

All the National Trusts etc are opened, and people can spend the entire day there.

I think you can use your common sense. It's not ideal to spend a day in a packed park, it makes 0 difference if you are all day on the beach alone! With the current temperatures, it's not really beach weather.

I've never even thought about restricting the time we spend outside. Unless I have work to do that day, I take the kids for a few hours some days. I avoid busy areas, and am mindful of people who would feel they can't go outside because of us.

In England there is no limit on how long you can be out for and there never has been.

Few people even count how many times you leave your house either. Certainly not round here, I'm glad to say.

AubergineDream · 01/02/2021 13:27

We only see maybe 2 or 3 other people jogging/ dog walking/ or in the play park. I just don't get the exercise I need in the play park or walking to and from it because we go to our nearest park so it's just not that far away (20 mins is generous probably only 10 mins). If we walk a bit further there are woods and I would happily walk in the woods for hours, or have a jog on the park path with the buggy.

I am so claustrophobic in the house. It's like the walls are coming in.

No beach near us unfortunately! If there was I would absolutely brave the bracing cold to get some sea spray on my skin.

You really don't need to justify it. It's allowed. It always has been. It was never an hour.. Gove just said that on the hoof one day early on that an hour might be a reasonable time but there has never been, in England, any kind of time limit.

AubergineDream · 01/02/2021 13:29

People just pass around so much misinformation. So many people have told me it's an hour now. But it's not true just once a day, nothing to do with whole long. I thought I had read the guidance right, but when enough people question you you start questioning yourself

How long not whole long

It's not an hour, never has been.

I go running for 3 hours, catch me if you can. Stay out as long as you like but obviously not close to other folk

BeneficiaryMadness · 01/02/2021 13:34

I’m normally out for 3/4 hours running, I don’t give it a second thought

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 01/02/2021 13:35

So many people from England seem to be allergic to rain and winter weather, now is the time to spend as long as you can outside whilst they are moaning and stuck indoors themselves Grin

Until the summer when it will be too hot and they'll have to stay indoors too that is!

MarshaBradyo · 01/02/2021 13:37

Absolutely fine

Sometimes dd will last in park for hours. We’re not near anyone it’s fine

NoSquirrels · 01/02/2021 13:38

It's totally fine - go out, stay out. The advice is "once per day" but I honestly wouldn't know if my neighbours were going out multiple times and I don't think they would care if I did either.

gnushoes · 01/02/2021 13:48

No limit on it. I go out for long walks or run/walks.

Heathercob · 01/02/2021 13:53

I'm generally at the stables for three or four hours on the days that I'm riding, less on the days I just go to the yard to feed Heather and Spring.

BabyStarling · 01/02/2021 13:53

No limit - I go walking for miles and I’m out for hours.
