I brush load but after years of throwing up after every meal as a teen and 4 pregnancies throwing up after every sniff of anything my teeth are so badly damaged and sore and they are now turning brown in the corners.
I brush more than 2x a day, and they get sore pretty much after every meal.
I don't know what to do?! how do you whiten teeth? can you get it done without stripping the enamel? at the dentist?
so embarrassed I'm only 25.

I think you would be best to have an honest discussion with your dentist. As your teeth are already damaged you wouldn’t want to buy something that could, potentially, cause further damage. The dentist will be able to advise and give you a realistic expectation of what could be achieved.

Dentist, possibly hygienist. After 3 pregnancies i had alot of plaque build up which looked brown at the edges of my teeth. The dentist referred me to the hygienist. My teeth were cleaned up and are now fine although i have them properly cleaned once a year

dudsville · 31/01/2021 22:05

Definitely don't try to fix this at home, see a dentist.

SimplyRadishing · 31/01/2021 22:09

Do you visit the hygenist?

Beautiful3 · 31/01/2021 22:14

Use cordesyol toothpaste and mouthwash. Its expensive but worth it.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 31/01/2021 22:14

Do you use a mouthwash such Corsodyl. When I used it my teeth went brown in the corners. I bought some Oral B whitening toothpaste and it soon went after a couple of weeks. This is the best brand of whitening toothpaste which I've learnt from experience.

Also if you drink tea or coffee without milk your teeth will go brown in the corners too.

shitinmyhandsandclap · 31/01/2021 22:15

Corsodyl mouthwash stains teeth, OP needs to see a dentist or at least the hygienist

Housing101 · 31/01/2021 22:16

Hygienist as soon as possible.

And stop drinking tea, coffee, cola, red wine, ribena, anything as all that is dark.

My DH at your age started drinking black coffee to get through the days (baby that didn't sleep so we were both knackered) his teeth turned brown within the year. Horrible. But it did get sorted by seeing a hygienist and cutting out coffee and dark drinks as much as possible. He's 30 now and teeth are fine, pretty white actually.

You can overbrush your teeth and damage the enamel. I think you need to seek advice from a dentist if possible. Goodluck im sure there will be a solution. There's so much they can do nowadays you will be able to get them whiter.

Airyfairymarybeary · 31/01/2021 22:32

Go to the dentist!!!! That is what they are for. No need to be embarrassed!
Do not try to whiten them yourself, it will probably cause more damage and make them more painful.

Durtyblurty · 31/01/2021 22:36

Don't use any whitening kits - the bleaching agents weaken your enamel & from what I hear, can make your teeth sensitive and sore - not what you need! Consult with a dentist

nevertakeabreak · 31/01/2021 22:41

Dentist here. You've had some very good advice already on this thread. You need to see a dentist. No one can possibly advise a treatment over the internet without examining you properly to work out the cause. You describe "damaged, sore, brown".
Your teeth could be decayed, eroded, stained... any number of things. And all would be treated differently. Corsodyl can stain your teeth further. Tooth whitening won't work on damaged teeth.
You will probably find the situation is salvageable, but you need to get professional help

grannyinapram · 01/02/2021 00:04

Thanks all, our dentist is only accepting emergency appointments so no luck at the minute. they were pretty bad last year but definitely getting worse. My teeth are crooked in places and it's bad in the places between the cracks where I guess I can't get to easily.

Nice to know others have had it and fixed it

give up tea... how?!! Blush

Do you floss?

nevertakeabreak · 01/02/2021 12:37

I would get an email address for your practice, and tell them your concerns, and how you would really like to get some reassurance. Hopefully they will see you then. If not, you could take photos and send to them and ask for their opinion. Even if they are very strict about the "urgent only", you are still a registered patient and deserve a service of some description.
If you were my patient, I would see you.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 01/02/2021 15:59

Don't give up tea OP >perish the thought< just make sure it has milk in it.

73kittycat73 · 01/02/2021 16:20

If your teeth are sore try any of Colgates' Pro Relief toothpaste. After years of over brushing (And I think the menopause contributed.) I have really badly receded gums. The toothpaste stops me climbing the wall from pain/sensitivity! It's expensive but worth it, and they are often on offer (Sainsburys is doing some for £2.00 a tube atm.) so stock up if you can then.
Good luck with your teeth. Flowers
