Ive had the implant in for 2 weeks and my mood has dropped to the point of suicidal thoughts and awful mood swings. I need it out. Doctors said no. So i tried it myself tonight but it didn't work. I need help as i cant have it in much longer:(

the doctor was tutting at me, talking about how expensive it was to fit them and what a waste.

Shamed, once again. Bet they don't say that to a vasectomy reversal

@grassisjeweled

There are a TON of threads on this subject.

What is wrong with the medical profession? Do they have a target to reach with coils? Must be left in for over 6 months or something?

I wonder that too. Along with IUDs, and contraceptive implants, (that they encourage women to have,) it's like they also have a quota to reach, of 'middle aged person MOT tests,' and smear tests etc..., and the pharmacies have a quota to reach of 'medicine reviews' that they promise will only take five minutes (but always takes half an hour!)

Putting something inside a woman's body, and then refusing to take it out when it doesn't work out for them, and makes them low and depressed, is despicable.

As some posters (including me,) have said, men would never be treated like this.

I was talking about this with my mum today. It really is a man / woman thing. If men had periods there would be a pill you could take to start and stop them when you like (eg once a month pill - slow release or something) so you just take a pill every 6-12 months. San pro would be free. Days at home abs proper pain killers for any pain etc

My periods had them for now 35 years - heavy, large clots serious serious pain for 2-3 days where I have to take major painkillers - they have ruined my fucking life and I’ve had misery for years. During my 20s 2/4 weeks bleeding heavily etc - a man would never have been made to endure it - ever!

@WhereDoMyBluebirdsFly

I had mine out after a month. It turned me absolutely psychotic.

They weren't happy about doing it so soon and kept asking me to try for longer but I just couldn't cope with it. I was going crazy.

I rang the doctor and walk in centre and a couple of days later the sexual health walk in centre took it out for me.

@WhereDoMyBluebirdsFly same with DD a few years ago. They took it out after 5 weeks because she felt the same as you. Good luck@Implantation12345

@Implantation12345-so pleased for you.
Take care.

Good luck tomorrow OP, glad you got a resolution I hated mine too , it was implanted deep in the muscle and it hurt to get it out so I would take some good painkillers before you go and a bottle of water in case you feel a bit woozy.

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 02/02/2021 18:11

TBF I would by Emla numbing cream (£4 from Boots etc). Follow the instructions to the letter. Take a clean blade (scalpel or similar), make a slit at the base of the implant and squeeze it out through the slit. Savlon and keep it clean.
I've removed a mole which kept catching on clothing and was painful via this method. Not ideal but does the trick.

So glad you have an appointment & furious that you have had to fight to get it.

You no longer consent to this medical implant should be all that needs to be said to have it removed- they can’t put it in without consent they should broody well remove it if you withdraw consent. Flowers

LondonStone · 02/02/2021 18:20

I’m really glad you got this sorted OP. I also posted about this last summer as I couldn’t find any NHS/ sexual health service who would take it out for me. A lovely user PM’ed me with a private clinic and I paid £150 to have it done privately. I didn’t even care at that point, in my eyes it was money well spent.

And this is why I have advised my daughter to refuse any form of internal contraception that she doesn’t have control over herself.
