I have lived in my rented house for 10 years, I've had a new contract every November, a pretty standard contract, and has stayed the same every year. This year, however, I haven't had one. Housing agency arranged for an inspection, all good, no problems and Landlord has said to give me another 12 month contract/lease. My tenancy ends October 31st, begins November 1st. I asked about my new contract end of November as I hadn't received one, agency replied saying once they receive the gas and electric safety certificates I will receive my contract. I had these checks months before the end of contract I think July/August time. Anyway, What I am basically asking is, What problems can it cause me to not have a contract? Does it mean that because the contract I get every year has said the same for the last 10 years then its a given I am to stick to the terms and conditions and vice versa? Such as notice etc? Does a contract cover me more than it covers the agency? . Or should I plague them for a contract? Thanks for any advice
