To ask for interest?

In September a well known retailer damaged my property and offered to give me compensation to cover the loss. They told me to pay for a repair and they would reimburse me once I sent them the receipt.

I did so in September, where they said they had sent the refund to my bank account and it should take up to 10 working days to credit. As it was an unexpected expense, I paid for the repair on my credit card. I didn’t think there would be an issue as they said they would sent the refund immediately.

The refund wasn’t actually sent until this week, so in the interim I was charged 4 or 5 months worth of credit card interest on the transaction. It’s not a huge amount, but I wouldn’t have incurred this expense had they issued the refund when they initially promised to.

Would I be unreasonable to ask them to cover the interest?

Depends. How much is not a lot of interest?

@RichPetunia it’s £15, what do you think?

I'd certainly ask. The worst they can do is say no.

Yes, they should pay. They promised a refund in September which you didn't receive till late January costing you interest. The goods were damaged so you shouldn't be out of pocket at all.
