As though women are simply incubators for babies produced solely by men?

Gives me the rage...

YABU. Women get to describe their pregnancies however the fuck they want to.

littlepattilou · 30/01/2021 12:11

Must admit, I have never heard any woman say this in real life. Ever.

CrotchBurn · 30/01/2021 12:12

I guess you're right it does sound kind of muleish

CakeRequired · 30/01/2021 12:15

Isn't it usually used in conjunction with a man being a scumbag twat who's fucked off because things have gotten too hard/real and he'd rather have a single life still while being a Disney dad?

Thats usually the only time I've heard it at least. Kind of justified then.

MiddleClassProblem · 30/01/2021 12:16

I think I’ve only really heard this term when the man has done something wrong. Like he cheated on her even though she was carrying his baby. Or he won’t do xyz even though I’m carrying his baby.

warmandtoasty2day · 30/01/2021 12:16

yes, woman can describe their pregnancies how they want to but let's be honest, it does come across as sounding like a surrogate for the man you are supossed to love and that is cringey.

MiddleClassProblem · 30/01/2021 12:17

X post with CakeRequired

AlwaysLatte · 30/01/2021 12:19

I see what you mean, although in all honesty it's obvious that the mother's carrying her own baby so sometimes it's just a way to distinguish the father? But 'having' rather than 'carrying' is nicer!

MyHeroMakkaPakka · 30/01/2021 12:22

It's better than when a man says "we're pregnant"

Yeah, this is it.

Mistress: He swore you were married in name only; he said you haven’t slept together in over a year!

Wife: Oh did he? DID HE? Then how come I’m carrying his baby?!?

(Freeze frame on shocked face of mistress. Credits roll.)

Acovic · 30/01/2021 13:11

I hate I "fell pregnant".

I always have to suppress the urge to ask "oh, where did you fall?"

Oooohbehave · 30/01/2021 13:38

Up there with 'falling pregnant' and 'we're' pregnant'.

Yes, it makes me cringe.
SpudsandGravy · 30/01/2021 17:36

I feel the same about 'having' as 'carrying'. It's the 'his' that gives me the rage.
