Watching Totp from 1990 and it’s making me emotional 🤷🏻‍♀️I was 13 years old and vividly remember so many amazing times, I couldn’t wait to grow up and saw the world as this big, exciting place.
I miss the 90’s

Everything was better in the 90s 😀

I watched a documentary by Jeremy Deller (everybody in the house??) about 90s rave culture which he showed to current teenagers and talked to them about it. They were in awe of the freedom - they wouldn't be able to dance like that because someone would film it and put it on social media. Made me feel sad for them.

Me too. Glastonbury videos have the same effect.

I watch ones from the 80’s and it makes me sad. Sad that you think the time will last forever, but then you realise how fast it goes. Then people you love are dead and you wished you’d told them what they mean to you, and asked them all sorts of questions about their life.

@KathleenTurnerOverdrive I remember many parts of it as my dad was made redundant as were many others, but it was still a simpler time overall, especially for kids, we had so much more freedom. Compared to now, it’s like a whole other world.

@500BusStops We were just so very lucky to be young in those times, still gives me that feeling in my stomach when I think of those days, if I could go back, even for just one day 💓

@DinosaurDiana I know, that’s how I’m starting to feel about it recently, sure the current situation doesn’t help. I used to laugh and remember it fondly. Now I feel almost bereft and want to go back!

@SinisterBumFacedCat Yes, The body shop too and the huge department stores and Saturday shopping with my mum & sister for clothes, or on the bus with friends. Funny how you think those times will last forever, that it will always be like that. It went too soon.

@Teddy1970

Not weird at all OP, I feel the same when I watch TOTP from the 1988, I was watching 'Minder' earlier and sometimes I wish we could go back, I know I'm probably seeing it through rose tinted glasses but things seemed so much simpler back then.
1988 was the big year for me too 😀 If you look on iPlayer, there’s a 1988 TOTP special on there, but I think it’s only available until tonight!

I so wish I could go back !
I’d tell my mum I love her and how grateful I am for everything she did for me, and how my dad’s a dick for not being able to keep it in his pants. He should have had the decency to divorce her before shagging the women he was working for.
And I’d ask both of my nan’s about their lives.

StillCoughingandLaughing 1988, the year of the Yuppie and the Porsche! Thanks for the heads up on TOTP, I'll take a look..
