Let's face it the last 10 months especially have been pretty shit for most people, but what have been the good points for you? I'll start by saying that I became a grandma in June which has more than made up for all the shit times. Also I've found myself appreciating little things like watching the birds pecking away at the fat balls in their bird feeder and shit. So come on, give me the things that you have appreciated over the past year, no matter how small.

@longtimemarried that's very good news. 🤞 he is fully recovered soon x

@samandpoppysmummy

I survived my first year as a widow and solo parent of teenagers fairly successfully. It was not the year I expected to have, but in a way it made it easier to cope with the huge change in my life knowing that life was not carrying on as normal for anyone else either.

I've become very good at DIY, even the power tools no longer scare me 😁

I started a 'house' Instagram page as a lockdown hobby during the second lockdown. One of my followers, who loved all my crazy colours, commissioned me to design a room for her (which I did entirely remotely) and she loves it, so I am now hoping to do a few more interior design projects for other people. None of this would have happened without Covid. I didn't even know house Instagrams were a thing before November.

I have been lucky to have a secure job that I enjoy and that allows me to work from home and keep my children company while they do their online lessons.

Mostly, I feel very grateful that despite the sadness of losing my much-loved DH, I have a lovely home, financial security, kind and fun children who are great company, and amazing friends. And we haven't had Covid :)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so pleased to read that you have great plans, going forward.
All good wishes to you.

Survived break up of 30 year relationship with our friendship in tact, and our children are getting there too

I became a mummy in July. DD was a long time coming, she is a Clomid baby and my IVF funding was agreed just a few days before my 12w scan. I still can't believe she is mine. I have enjoyed soaking up every single second of it.

Thank you Samandpoppy,

My DDs teacher has sent her some prizes home for working so hard at home and it's reminded me that I can't be doing a bad job

samandpoppysmummy · 29/01/2021 17:49

@1Morewineplease thank you ❤️

Fosterling No. 1 is very happy with her new family, I spoke to her yesterday and she still tells me "I wub doo".

Fosterling No. 2 is settling in well to his new home, he is too young to tell me anything but his joyful laugh when mummy sends me videos tells me he is happy.

Fosterling No. 3 is benefitting from being an only.

I am getting to spend lots of time with DP, he was told 6 months in Nov and so far is tolerating chemo well, feeling well and doing good.

We have had our first jabs and DD gets hers this week.
@3rdNamechange it won't let me put the name in for some reason - something to do with the underscores. It's the house called the tower with underscores between each word.
Just looked , wow. Beautiful house.

Imapotato · 29/01/2021 18:55

Had Covid this week. Both me and DP, but actually only felt ill for a few days and now both feel ok, just a bit tired. The kids, so far, haven’t caught it/ have been asymptomatic. I’m looking at it as a win.

Uber eats is now in my area, so I’ve been able to order myself random crap to eat. Amazing!

Proudpeacock · 29/01/2021 19:15

DH has just booked his first vaccine jab next week. MIL has her second booked for April. I know that we will still have to love with restrictions but it is a weight off my mind.

samandpoppysmummy · 29/01/2021 21:35

@3rdNamechange thank you 😊

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 29/01/2021 22:17

DH who was made redundant at Christmas has an interview next week, which has cheered us all up. (Keep your fingers crossed he's successful.) None of us has been ill, but with everyone at home this has been a tough month, so any glimmers of hope are welcome.
