To think my workplace is ageist?

My current workplace is unusual, as most people are over the age of 50. I am 30 and the second youngest in the whole company - I can count on one hand the number of people under 45. No one under this age is in a manager role.

I have noticed there are things happening that could be construed as ageist perhaps. For example, a manager position became available but it was not advertised and there was no process, they just gave the job to someone in the company who has no skills or experience for that role whatsoever. and then they want people like me to teach them to do the job.

The Office manager also makes comments about what the the young women wear but not the older women. For example, a younger generation woman was told she must wear skirts below the knee in future, but another woman in her 50s wears skirts above the knee all the time.

Would you say it sounds ageist? There isn't much I can do about it but it's bugging me because it feels like discrimination at times.

How many people work at the company?

I suppose it is fairly unusual to have such a high proportion of people over the age of 50! What sort of industry is it?
