to potentially leave a job after 3 months?

So I start a new job in February in a university on a 9 month contract. They are all sounding like really nice people, bending over backwards to prepare me. Its WFH but only during Covid and its less salary than what I was on before (I was made redundant due to Covid from last job). However, very good pension (20% employer contribution) and benefits like gym, shopping, restaurant discounts. TBH though, I don't see myself using these discounts but the pension is great.

I have another organisation saying they have a job for me starting in May (funding depending). Its a charity. If they get the funding, it would be a permanent job and fully working from home (even after Covid). its about £3000 more per year than the uni job but have not been told of any other benefits and the pension employer contribution is 4%.

WIBU to leave the university after just 3 months? There is a 3 month notice period, do you think I'd need to stick to it as I could risk losing out on the charity job if so. Or should I do the full 9 months with the university at the risk of not having anything to go into afterwards?

I've never been in this position before and I don't like upsetting people or any conflict! DH thinks the uni pension is better and I should stay for that but I've never been too clued up on pension contributions!

There is definitely no possibility of the uni contract being extended.

Take the uni job for now.
If the charity job actually comes good, you can cross that bridge and negotiate - the uni are unlikely to hold you to 3 months notice on a short contract.

Also - as an adult you need to be able to deal w conflict and understand pensions, so it will all be a good opportunity for personal growth Grin
