To send reception child to a childminder

Schools could be open past 8th March and I cant get much work done from home. I'm really suffering.

DD has a live 15 minute class and activities to do on Google Classroom every day. She only ever gets half done.

WIBU to send her to a childminder? Not sure what her teacher would say when she sees she cant do any school work.

Yeah, I need the space. DD just turned 5, but even then would she have been allowed to go if I'd deferred her school place for this year?

If the childminder has a place and is wiling then I probably would. Maybe keep Schtum about it though as people will judge.

Definitely! My son who is in year 1 went to his younger brother's nursery for a bit after Christmas. It seemed safer to minimise
transmission by having them both in the same place than sending him to school (we're both keyworkers) and there were two other year 1 children there. He enjoyed the activities and the nursery staff did his schoolwork with him. We switched back to the school after a couple of weeks, though, mostly because it's free and the nursery is expensive. The provision at his school isn't as good.

It's very difficult to WFH with a small child. My year one child is just beginning to enter a stage of childhood where I can see the whole thing is very different. Remember that in many countries your child wouldn't even be at school yet.

Go for it, it’s a silly arbitrary rule anyway
