I'm fed up with MN, fed up with the tv, fed up with going a walk and fed up with the weather

...in short. I'm fed up.

movingonup20 · 27/01/2021 15:21

Join the club, I'll add fed up with news websites, phone games and can't even be bothered with my new computer game.

What I want to do is go to the Range and finish getting bits for our new house, we moved in between the last and this lockdown, avoided shops because they were busy with people shopping for Christmas. It's in the city 7 miles door to door but my conscience says it's not necessary even though they have an Iceland inside (there's an ordinary Iceland 10 mins walk away). Fed up Confused

@likeamillpond

I barely iron anyway, creases fall out when you put them on right ...Grin

@MaureenMLove, I haven't seen you on mn for ages. Your dd must be what, 25 now?

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2021 15:43

Ha ha! Now the people who game are looking pretty bloody clever. No 'man-child' 'how does anyone over 12 do this?' nonsense.

Take up computer games. You can piss away hours on absolutely nothing. Total time waste, exactly what we all need right now.

May I suggest tower defense games to start. Obsessive and totally useless.

LetItGoGo · 27/01/2021 15:45

God yes to gaming. The saving grace for my teens. At least they talk to mates through the damn things!

huggzy · 27/01/2021 15:45

Yes, very fed up. There are things I could and should do but I have no motivation. I'm half way through a book but I can't focus on reading it. I'm meant to be sanding and decorating but can't even think about it. Once DD has finished her school work (I sit and help her/ encourage her otherwise she wouldn't do it) I just watch the telly.

hamstersarse · 27/01/2021 15:46

I nearly spent £100 on candle making equipment the other day.

That is the level of boredom

In what life would I ever want to make candles?

Thankfully I came to my senses at the checkout on Amazon and did not pursue the shittest hobby ever

MaureenMLove · 27/01/2021 15:46

@ssd she is exactly 25! Well done! (And I'm not that bored that like her many, many years ago, I can make you another book!Grin)

I've always been around, but find less and less that interests me on here. It's not like the old days! Wink. How are you?

Avaganda · 27/01/2021 15:49

I'm so bored that I was really looking forward to a visit to the dentist this Friday. I was gutted when they text to let me know the appointment was cancelled! I can't believe life has got to this point!

ssd · 27/01/2021 15:49

I'm ok thanks. My 2 are growing/grown up young adults too, both at uni. I agree mn isn't the same, which is a shame. But that's life I guess 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, bored stiff. It’s difficult to self motivate when there’s nothing o get motivated for. I have musical instruments I could be playing but I just can’t muster the motivation to even start. My brain knows there’s no rewards at the end so it thinks why bother?

Cornetttttto · 27/01/2021 15:57

Teach yourself something. Like, the history of the Aztecs.

thetemptationofchocolate · 27/01/2021 16:05

We have taken up shouting at the tv. Mainly at the adverts, it's usually the same bloody adverts at the same time of day.
So: 'Death and misery' whenever it's time for a over-50s life insurance ad.
'What about the free pillow?' for the mattress adverts.
'Winky wanker' at the Vanish man in the pink shirt.
and so on...

ssd · 27/01/2021 16:11

I couldn't teach myself the 2 times table right now, never mind the Aztecs.

I'm in a funk.

Have you noticed how the vanish man talks out the corner of his mouth?

Snap!

TheRealHousewife · 27/01/2021 16:16

I know what you mean @ssd. I’m even watching films I wouldn’t have considered pre Covid. I recently watched Notting Hill for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

That is exactly what I’m doing this evening! Blush

This is how I live all the time due to illness.

There are loads of other things you could try:

  • Learn a language
  • Learn/play an instrument
  • Listen to music
  • Make a photo album/look through old photos
  • Plan a holiday/trip in 2022
  • Draw/paint
  • Plan a nice Easter meal or buy some Easter decorations
  • Look up mindfulness/yoga on Youtube
  • Try out new hair/make-up
  • Try an online course (e.g. google 'Massive Online Learning Course)
  • Do a virtual 'window shop' online
  • Read a magazine (feels different to a book in the daytime)
  • Drink coffee- it helps when you're bored!
DonLewis · 27/01/2021 16:20

Dude, get yourself netflix! There just so much to watch. It isn't all boxsets at all. Films. Documentaries, even a meditation thingy. Honestly. I was late to the netflix party too, but I bloody love it now.

But, I do know what you mean. I have a knitting project on the go. But can't seem to bring myself to do it. So I've forced my self to read a book. I'm loving it. Why did I stop reading????

Plussizejumpsuit · 27/01/2021 16:21

I feel ya! I'm at the tail end of my period and reduced my citalopram to 20mg from 30mg a week and a bit ago. On eof the effects is on 30mg I'm fairly chilled about stuff but on 20 stuff annoys me. Probably only how it would a normal person but I notice it. It will even out...

But yeah I'm here for the pity party. Weather is shit, I'm cold and blah. Need to do some cleaning but I'm sitting on the sofa on here.

Haha, this made me laugh! Would be even funnier if the parcel had arrived and then you'd suddenly come to your senses.
BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/01/2021 16:22

That's interesting that other people are mentioning the lack of concentration ... I ordered a couple of books from Amazon and I just keep picking them and putting them down .... concentration is shit. I seem to flit from MN, to TV, to fridge .....
