to think some people are just destined to have bad teeth?

I don't eat tonnes of sugar. I brush my teeth two or three times a day. Floss. Use mouthwash. Use an electric Toothbrush. I really look after my teeth, but they still have cracks in, I have had a few abscesses, 5 fillings, yellowing etc. Are some people just doomed to have bad teeth whatever they do?

@radiateforme I don't know if I agree that some people are destined to have bad teeth, as there is so much that can be done these days.

But I do know that some dentists drilled and filled for profit in the 1960s and 1970s, and almost everyone born before the early 1970s has a mouth full of fillings - OR big gaps where the teeth had to be extracted because they had turned to shit after years and years of being filled/refilled.

Many people have shit teeth now because of the butcher dentists way back then. Basically, they ruined their teeth.

It's actually quite a scandal to be honest, and I am wondering why there hasn't been an inquiry into it, and a chance for people to claim compensation (like with mis-sold ppi, and mis-sold mortgages, and mis-sold life insurance plans etc.....)

Yep I have always looked after my teeth as my mum raised me to be very careful with them - she too has awful teeth despite having looked after them really well so wanted to try and avoid me following in her footsteps. Unfortunately I have awful teeth too! So I think some of it is just luck.

Also know a few people who have no dental problems despite not looking after their teeth at all. It’s no fair!

Yes it can be beyond your control.
Try not to focus to much as long as your mouth is healthy and clean.
Or be like me and save for false ones I've damaged mine with my lifestyle as a teenager.
They look okay They wouldn't make you vomit but they are weak unreliable shit.

I've just done a quick Google and found that vitamin d deficiency leads to increase in caries, broken teeth etc. I'm nearly 30 and recently found out that I am severely vit d deficient. I'm mixed race and have probably been deficient for a very long time. I wonder if this is why my teeth are so weak.

The vitamin D deficits would make sense as mine were ruined from lack if vitamins due to an eating disorder.
