To say that being able to count your true friends

On one hand is incorrect?
Maybe I am just lucky but I know there are at least 20 if not more people I could rely on and who I consider true friends.

I’d say I have at least 20 good friends too; people I could turn to for support if necessary. I wouldn’t say that anyone claiming to have a different number is ‘incorrect’- what a strange word to use.

As I said, I have experienced several beveraments a couple of years back. Even now, they still rally around and I know I could call any of them at anytime and they would do the same for me. There are a lot of good people out there.

For me, i want quality friends over quantity. I don't know anyone i can 100% rely on apart from dp but then i've been a shit friend too.

There being a lot of good or amazing people out there means little to how many friends someone has.

For some, they just define true friend differently. It may not just be those who rally around, but those who you communicate with a lot, know a lot about each other, have a high level of vulnerability and consistency and commitment to each other. That's different to the nice people who've helped out. I kinda like Shasta Nelson's circles of friendships to discuss different types because there are many ways to think of friends.

For others, it's life circumstances. Even before COVID, there was a lot of talk of the epidemic of loneliness. The stats are out there that the vast majority of people, usually around 75% or so, feel they've 5 or fewer good friends, and there is a portion of the population who feels they've no one. It doesn't mean those people don't think there are good people in the world, friends tend to beget friends and isolation tends to beget more isolation.

No. They are correct about their true friends. Everyone is different. You're very lucky to have 20 but you can't use your list to conclude anything beyond the fact it's your list.

I think you are lucky.

I would say there are good people about.

I don't have any true friends and I'd struggle to name a family member I could truly trust.
In my experience you can't trust and rely on anyone except yourself

I think your post is horrible. Just because YOU think you have more than 20 goid friends, what gives you the right to say other people are incorrect when they say THEY can count their good friends on one hand?

A lot of people on MN say they don't have any good friends or indeed any friends.

Just count your own blessings and think before you start horrible threads.

(And no skin in the game as I am fortunate to have fabulous close friends who I can count on).

Hmm I’m not even sure there are 20 people I could say I like!
There are quite a few people in my life that I could ask for help if needed and I know would help but for me true friends are one who know my good and bad parts, know where the bodies are buried and I could tell anything to so of those people I can think of 3
