Who should be getting the vaccine?

I’m curious to know if I’m being unreasonable in thinking this appears unfair & what is others experience of how the distribution of the vaccine works.
I have two acquaintances who have had the vaccine already, one is a dental receptionist & the other a private physiotherapist. Both are young (under 30 & under 40) & neither have any underlying health issues.
A mutual friend is fuming as her Mother who has recently had 6 rounds of chemotherapy hasn’t had it yet.
I’m interested to know how they’ve already had it - as they’re not key NHS workers or frontline staff etc.
Has anyone else heard of friends that it feels unreasonable to have been prioritised to get the jab & what do they do?

I have had the vaccine as a manager in the NHS, and I actually feel a bit guilty at having it as I am not currently seeing any patients face to face. I'd have happily given mine to someone else but as a PP said it doesn't work that way. Sad

Thank god @AlternativePerspective 👏🏻

How on earth do people like @Chimeraforce not get why schools are closed, it’s not about the one class teacher, it’s the 30-60 odd adults which the pupils of that class reside with - that’s where the risk lies!

@Sh05

I know social workers have been offered the vaccine as well because my husband and all his colleagues have been told to make appointments. He is working from home, only been in to the office twice since march so I don't know how they've been prioritised. He's not in the kind of role where he makes visits to service users or anything but has been told he can get the vaccine as early as this weekend. Very early 40s, no health problems, no contact with anyone outside of our household🤷
It’s considerably easier to vaccinate “social workers” as a category rather than spending precious time working out which social workers are likely to come into vulnerable people more often than ones not.

I don't know why so many assume that NHS staff priority means "patient facing because they are at risk". Who do they think is organising the databases and sending out the vaccination letters and texts? Admin staff! We're screwed if they all go off sick.
