I've been asked to make a video for my work website for people who are thinking of entering the field I work in. I've made a few videos before but they've all been for training purposes, so I basically just say hello then go straight to sharing my screen. This one is public-facing and it's meant to be just me talking to the camera for 2 minutes.
It's fairly mundane, office-based kind of work so certainly nobody's expecting supermodel-type PR. But does anyone have any advice on how to film it so that I don't look awful? I usually look like a mildly annoyed potato on video calls, and I don't think I look terribly potato-y in real life.
I normally just hold the phone out in front of me for video calls, and use my very, very bright desk light positioned just behind it. Are there any tricks to where to put the phone and how to light it so that I look more normal? (I don't have any special video equipment or anything, and I just wear my normal not-very-glam middle-aged office makeup).
