Not redeemable against online shopping!!! and only have a one month expiration. Absolutely useless.

We have almost completely avoided the supermarket in the last year on account of CEV DS. I have a few vouchers from previous lockdown which will make finances easier when we can get back to the supermarket, but these ones bah!

I got so excited when it arrived!! AIBU to try selling them on? Would anyone buy if I explained

@Sarahrellyboo1987

Firstly, it’s illegal to sell them on. I hope you get caught! Utter disgrace

And secondly, if you don’t need them (because you’re saving them!) then you should make it clear to the school you don’t require the voucher.

Calm down. It's illegalGrin

I'm sure OP will be off to tell the school she doesn't need them after your post.

Could you provide a link to this law please. People keep saying its illegal but I can't find anything to back it up. not that it will stop me selling them to my mum

Of course it's not. It's also not even a must not to spend them on non food , just a should not. (The once in a blue moon this happens despite this lot telling you they once sold 479 TVs in a a day and the sun claiming people try and buy beer then punch the manager of refused )

Well quite. I very much suspect it isn't illegal at all.
Its like I said in my previous post, we are told that if we really need the vouchers we will find a way to use them. When we say we have found a way, eg selling them so we have cash in our bank which we can use online we get told that's wrong, illegal, fraud, disgusting etc etc. Hmm

FFS talk about being ungrateful to live in a welfare state and get stuff for free instead of supporting your own children.

"On another note, it is only the CEV individual who has to shield. Other household members just have to follow the standard lockdown advice so you are making a choice not to visit a supermarket. It isn't a requirement not to"

It's literally nothing to do with what they are allowed to or required to do, it's to do with being safe. If we had a CEV person in the house none of us would be going shopping because there's not much point one person shielding if they are constantly around people who are potentially coming into contact with the virus.

I'd like to return mine but I can pay for them - is there maybe an exchange option? Grin

I must admit, I picked up some cat food and batteries when paying with the vouchers. Used scan and go. No-one noticed. Ooops!

Do you mean put them back where they came from?
Even if I thought they would fit (they are approx 5" and 10" taller than me) I strongly suspect they would rather starve than go back where they came from. And frankly so would I.

I send ours to my eldest at Uni as neither of us drive and the nearest supermarket is 10 miles away. She works for Tesco so helps her out.

It is utterly disgusting that the Government begrudge CHILDREN £3 a day for lunch.

I cannot understand why the £15 a week wasn't just transferred into the bank accounts of the parents rather than vouchers or food parcels.

I don't want to be cynical but I wonder if the whole farce with the food parcels wasn't intentional to keep certain voters on their side??

I hope I am wrong.

Being vague here but someone I know who in the first lockdown issued vouchers for school meals went to a parents house to delivery them and was asked "can't I have the cash I need to get my nails done". Don't for one minute think everyone is going to use these on their kids.

@Jimdandy it must be nice to live in a world where a paediatric consultant hasn't told you your 3 year old child will need someone at home supporting them permanently.....
Sometimes the most important support you can provide your family isn't financial. neither me or the state can afford the care I provide for a comparitive pittance

As ScrumptiousBears stated- not all parents would use the money on food for the children!

Some of the options are online some aren't. Asda is but I know Morrisons isn't, I got caught out same way with Iceland the other day and had to get someone to go to Iceland for me because I'm shielding.

Because there is a disgusting number of parents that would use it on items other than food and the children would still go hungry.
There is no guarantee the children will get the food bought with the vouchers either but they stand more of a chance.
