To epilate just one leg

Just used my epilator for the first time after it sitting in the box for years.

Wow.

I've done one leg and don't think I can face the other Grin

Is it worth sticking it out? How long do legs stay smooth?

I thought about my bikini line but balls to that!!

@BoyTree

You do get used to it, but beware of ingrowing hairs. I loved epilating, but it left my skin in an awful state (it's quite sensitive anyway, tbh, hence trying to find an alternative to shaving).
Same, mine all still ingrow after epilating for a year or so when I was younger. Had one session of laser (interupted by covid now) but think the epilating has left them too wispy for that to work well so might just have to put up with scabby legs

@TheVolturi

What sort of pain is it? Trying to work out if I need an epilator!
Like very fast, mild plucking 😂

@TheVolturi

Just realised that sounds like I like pain🤣 I don't!
Grin Made me think of this

I have one in a drawer somewhere, been there years. It's going nowhere near me again.

My only good experience of it was the night DH asked me to do his back with it. Never laughed so much in my life. I was there trying to dodge all these thick man hairs with gooey roots. DH stood over a chest of drawers grabbing onto the sides for dear life while yelping "ow, ow, ow, ow, ow" and trying not to move. His bright red face with tears streaming down it. He was laughing too before anyone thinks I am a pure meanie.

It gets a lot less painful after first couple of times! I've been doing it for years and my underarms (use talcum powder there first though otherwise sweat can make skin too delicate and tear) and it lasts as long as waxing but you don't have to wait for hair to grow to certain length first. Haven't successfully done bikini area though, too fiddly and too scary...

Centaurpede · 26/01/2021 20:14

Also make sure you're not cold, it hurts if you have goosebumps! 😂

SuperSange · 26/01/2021 20:19

I have a glass or two of wine first, that takes the edge off. 😊

I must be epilating wrong because my hair grows back within 24 bloody hours.

It doesn’t hurt on my legs.

But Jesus Christ, trying it on your armpits or bikini line is worse than childbirth.

haiiiryyyleggs · 27/01/2021 10:54

Well it's been three days since I first did it's

My legs are mostly still smooth but I can feel some prickly bits which I assume are new hairs that have come through since.

It's not feeling as bad today I think it's just taken me a few days to get used to it. I think after today when I've completely finished I will be ok for at least a week!

Legs are fine, I do my legs regularly. The first time was anguish, but the more you do it the easier it gets. I think it’s because there are less hairs due to growth cycles or something, but honestly first time is the worst.

Armpits are beyond me though. I did one. I just can’t even think about it. And I’ve never even considered my bikini line to be a possibility....

BrightYellowDaffodil · 27/01/2021 11:26

It's worth persevering! The hair grows back relatively quickly to start with but eventually it slows and thins. I've been epilating my legs for years and I only have to do it a couple of times a month now, plus there's nowhere near as much regrowth :)
