How long to be concerned...

About finding a new job?
Is not finding anything as yet (since being made redundant in October) last year bad?

Depends what you are doing in the meantime? Applying for 30 jobs a week every week - I’d be concerned about possibly not getting interviews, particularly if it’s public sector.

Applying for 5 jobs in that time with 3 interviews and you’ve done some training - also more than acceptable?

I think it's to be expected. The country has seen mass redundancies due to the pandemic and the job market is pretty fucked at the moment.

Don't get too down or take it personally. I sympathise; dh has been made redundant due to "re sizing" the company- basically they've had to cut staff to continue without losses.

My self employed business can longer continue. It's been tough.

Are you managing financially? There may be help you're entitled to.

I had my first panic attack today over it.
Financially I am OK for the next few months. After that, I have problems. I am so worried.

I'm not sure it'll make you feel any better but there are a lot of people in the same boat at the moment. I'm certainly having sleepless nights worrying about money and our prospects.

You can apply online for Universal Credit if you have savings below £6000. It's a paltry amount to live on but don't be too proud to look into that. I was on UC for a while and they were quite helpful (to an extent) with job searching and pointing me in the direction of free online courses while out of work.

There just isn't much out there unfortunately. Although that will hopefully improve Sad

I think people saying 'It will be better in April' kind of makes me feel worse as there is more pressure to find something.
My niece having trouble as well. She has chronic health issues which is making things a lot harder. In her thirties.
DD also but she is younger and has managed to pick up some odd jobs here and there.
Just feels crap. Really feeling it today.
