Jesus, all this time I thought I was just wishing people well by saying, "take care", when it turns out it actually means, "I love you, now fuck off." Confused

Depends on context. I’ve definitely used it to mean fuck off. But generally I mean ‘be careful’.

It's just a generic conversation ending to me. It has a deeper meaning to people I care more deeply about than to people who are more of an acquaintance, but the basic meaning remains the same - take care/be careful. I don't think I've ever used it passive aggressively.

"Look after yourself". It's definitely not PA.

My Dad used to say "Take it easy girl" at the end of a call. I don't ever recall him saying "goodbye". It also meant "look after yourself", and was meant kindly.

It means “I need to finish this message politely.”

Take care is just - look after yourself, especially in these times. The only time I've used it before was when DCs were doing something especially dangerous
