To find bad accents so off-putting?

Watching a film on Netflix and I cannot get past the terrible American accent of the male character, played by a British actor. His English accent keeps slipping in and it distracts from the storyline.

I just find it so annoying and off-putting - surely they could have cast an American actor as the lead role!? It's one of my biggest bugbears.

Does anyone else find this irritating or has lockdown turned me into an accent-ravaging arsehole?

Arrrghhh

It's like Martin Compston in LOD. I'm guessing his English accent is passable but it is out with the bounds of possibility that there could be a Scottish officer in AC12?

is the guy who coached Ralph Fiennes for The Dig.

I'm watching Reign at the minute and the accents are appallingly bad. And that's only the tip of the iceberg of awfulness (still enjoying watching it though Grin)

Oh Lordy. Reign is pure trash and utterly historically bollocks (Francis was 14 when he married Mary Queen of Scots. She was about 16. He died when she was 18 and he was 16.

None of that raunchy crap.

Still had to watch 3 seasons of the very silly, melodramatic crap though!

Johnny Depp actually speaks like that in real life. He thinks hes English the massive prat.

Ralph Fiennes learnt Russian and spoke it without an accent for a film in a few months (I dont speak much russian so I cant really tell you if the no accent bit is true).
